The Croatian Sommelier Club is organizing the 27th Croatian Sommelier Championship, which, under the auspices of HTZ and TZ Kvarner, will be held on December 2 and 3, 2024, at the Ambasador Hotel in Opatija. The championship program can be found below:

The championship starts on Monday, December 2 at 13:XNUMX p.m. with the quarter-final competition, which consists of a theoretical and a practical part.
Written exam it lasts 40 minutes, is anonymous (under a code) and includes questions from viticulture, winemaking, legislation (definition of wine, protection, regionalization, division), and questions from the profession.
The practical part it lasts 10 minutes and consists of a "blind" tasting and a written description of the wine. The candidate is obliged to: evaluate and describe the wine with an attempt to locate the origin, name of the producer, year of harvest and aging potential. In addition, with each wine, the candidate suggests the most suitable dish.
We remind you that last year he won the 26th title of the best sommelier in Croatia Kristijan Harjač sommelier of the Rovinj restaurant Agli Amici.
Eight contestants with the most points in the quarter-finals enter the semi-finals.
U final competition, the three best candidates will demonstrate their skills in describing domestic and foreign wines "blindly", recognizing different spirits, serving aperitifs and decanting red wine, correcting the wine list, knowing the world of wine, dealing with guests, etc.
As part of the competition, it will be held masterclass workshop cult wineries from Rioja - Marqués de Murrieta. Sommeliers and guests will have the opportunity to taste wines:

The final part of the competition will be held on December 3 at the Ambasador Hotel starting at 15 p.m. and is open to the public and will be broadcast live via live stream.
This year's championship was registered 18 candidates, who come from all Croatian regions and are employed in renowned hotels, famous Croatian restaurants and wine bars.
