The Tourist Board of Zagreb County (TZZŽ) has once again demonstrated expertise and ability at the European level.

The InterWine project: Combining cultural heritage and eno-tourism to create a sustainable cross-border destination, was selected among only six successful projects out of a total of 73 submitted to the Interreg Slovenia-Croatia cross-border cooperation competition, Strengthening the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation.

The goal of the project is to strengthen the role of culture and sustainable tourism through the development of a new joint tourist product that connects cultural heritage and the tradition of winemaking and viticulture. This innovative tourism product will be developed with a participatory approach that includes local communities and key stakeholders from Croatia and Slovenia.

The project will include numerous activities such as focus groups and workshops to define and create a plan for the establishment of a common destination. A new tourist product will be developed, which will be presented through tangible and online elements.

InterWine premises in Velika Gorica, Pušća and Brežice will be equipped to connect cultural heritage and wine offer. A joint souvenir, itineraries and tourist guide will also be created, as well as an intuitive online platform for the promotion of the wine-gastronomic offer and cultural heritage.

For the first time, funds were provided for the development and promotion of winemaking and viticulture in our region. The city of Velika Gorica in cooperation with the Zagreb County Tourist Board and other partners will significantly enrich our tourist offer with this project."

This comprehensive approach will improve the quality and attractiveness of the destination and ensure the sustainability and resilience of tourism and culture. The project will also include education and motivational workshops for key stakeholders, piloting elements of the tourist product and active promotion.

In order to capitalize on the results of the project and ensure permanent cooperation, the partners will create an InterWine manual and sign an Agreement on future cooperation, which will ensure the durability of the results and the commitment of partners and stakeholders after the end of the project.
