The project "Career development in camping" brought together over 400 students and pupils from all over Croatia, which speaks to the fact that the camping sector is increasingly attractive to young people when it comes to employment.

A comprehensive project that Croatian Camping Union (KUH), with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, with its activities, from guest lectures to the implementation of Camp Open Days, gathered numerous students and pupils with the aim of promoting occupations and employment in the tourism sector, with an emphasis on camping.

A relaxed atmosphere, being outdoors and attractive working conditions - they are definitely the elements that won over young people, and the large turnout and the expressed interest in employment in that particular segment are confirmation of the same.

Camp open days in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County were held on the island of Krk, at the Krk Premium Camping Resort, on May 6, 2024.

The event was attended by students and teachers of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management (Opatija) and students of the High School Hrvatski kralj Zvonimir (Krk), and students from the Hotel and Tourism School Opatija also joined. In Istria, the Open Days were held at the Polari camp on May 14, 2024, where students from the Eugen Kumičić Vocational School (Rovinj) and students from the Faculty of Economics and Tourism Dr. Mijo Mirković (Pula) - and at the same time it should be said that Istria and Kvarner together cover as much as two thirds of the capacity of Croatian camps. The invitation to the Open Days was public, and we are especially happy that representatives of some continental LAGs also responded.

In addition to the Open Day, the project also included guest lectures at six national higher education and secondary school institutions, as well as the organization of workshops and discussions with potential employers, as well as an insight into the latest development trends in camping through the participation of a selection of about 100 students from tourism and hospitality schools. from Dalmatia, from the University of Zadar, the Polytechnic in Šibenik and the Šibenik Vocational High School at the largest national congress of Croatian camping, where they could meet 378 representatives of the national camping sector.

All the mentioned activities brought together over 400 pupils and students from all over Croatia, and the events were attended by their professors and teachers, as well as the wider interested public.

The camping association of Croatia will focus its efforts in the future on the continuation and upgrading of already started activities, it states Adriano Palman, director of KUH, and adds: "As a sectoral association, we try to motivate young generations to work in the camping, and numerous examples of good practice and direct meeting of employers and students in the field really proved to be an ideal tool for attracting young labor force..

Namely, young people still perceive the camp as a meadow and a tent, and are positively surprised when they see that the situation on the ground is completely different and that Croatian camps are one of the highest quality and most innovative in Europe, and therefore offer interesting opportunities for further professional development and advancement.

The project was realized in a broad partnership, which, in addition to the previously mentioned school institutions, includes Maistra, Valamar, TZ of the Istrian County, TZ of the city of Krk, the Croatian Tourism Association and the Croatian Association of Employers in the Hotel Industry.
