At today's extraordinary 38th session of the City Council of the City of Hvar held on the topic of the current situation in the city of Hvar, the councilors unanimously adopted the Conclusion on measures that contribute to the efficient management of the City of Hvar and its tourist direction and development.

In the Conclusion, it is stated that the City Council has taken note of the citizens' petition and undertakes to make appropriate decisions that will clearly define the new direction of tourism.

The mayor and municipal police are asked to implement it Decision on the use and lease of public areas that does not allow the installation of acoustic devices, speakers, microphones and the like as well as the implementation of other provisions Decisions on communal order, and from the sanitary inspector to start applying Law on noise with regular measurements, and in the future by setting up a control system.

In the last article of the Conclusion, the City Council of the City of Hvar requests the application of all valid Decisions of the City of Hvar to all economic entities, without exception.

"For many years, we had (and still have) a present violation of valid decisions and regulations with a constant look at someone else. This series of measures represents the assumption of a different tourist orientation that makes a turn from proclaimed party tourism towards sustainable tourist development. These measures are the beginning of a period in which the city's decisions and regulations will be respected and contribute to the efficient management of the city. City management means a process aimed at establishing a system that will ensure a satisfactory quality of life and well-being for all citizens. The basic goal of good city management is a satisfactory quality of life and well-being of all citizens and an incentive for effective behavior at the local level."

President of the City Council of the City of Hvar Jurica Miličić at the very opening of the session, he expressed regret for the violent event that took place in Hvar and thanked the citizens who expressed their dissatisfaction in a dignified manner, as well as the Hvar Police Station for their cooperation.

The mayor agreed with that Ricardo Novak who, in his opening presentation, referred to the course of the tourist season so far, which is statistically in line with last year's, although according to information, revenues are not at the expected level but are 10 to 30 percent lower. The Mayor reminded that everyone who has a contract with the City should respect the provisions of the contract and that it is the responsibility of each individual to ensure that Hvar remains at the top of world tourism.

/ / / Hvar is anything but a party destination

In the following, the councilors discussed the current problems faced by citizens and restaurateurs (among other things, excessive noise levels, disobedience of city decisions and regulations by restaurateurs, the impossibility of influencing the working hours of kiosks and stores that sell alcohol and food), initiatives and citizens' actions that appeared after the violent event last weekend, and about the possibilities of bringing solutions at the local level.

After 9 out of 11 councilors agreed to give the floor to the citizens present at the session (noting that the organizers of the petition refused the invitation to participate in the discussion), several of them expressed their opinion, but the discussion was soon interrupted due to raised tones and tensions among the citizens , they state from the City of Hvar. 

The session ended unanimously by adopting the Conclusion, which comes into force upon publication in the Official Gazette.

The recording of the session will be available within 48 hours on the official website of the City of Hvar.

Therefore, the conclusion of the City Council is:

- making decisions for a new tourist direction, based on a citizen's petition.

- implementation of the decision on the use of public areas, including the ban on acoustic devices.

- application of the Law on Noise with regular measurements and a control system.

- application of valid decisions to all economic entities without exception.

As already pointed out, these measures come into force upon publication in the Official Gazette of the City.
