On Thursday, October 3, at the press conference held in Hotel Olea, the City of Novalja presented its own candidacy for the European City of Sports in 2025 (English European Town of Sport 2025) in the category of cities with up to 25.000 inhabitants.
The title of European City of Sports is awarded every year in several categories, and this initiative represents a significant step in the promotion of sports and an active lifestyle within the local community, but also at the international level.
Members of the ACES Europe Commission (European Cities and Regions of Sport) headed by GF Lupattelli, founder and president of ACES Europe spent the past two days touring the sports infrastructure and variety of sports programs in the city. After visiting the sports infrastructure and getting acquainted with the local sports community, the commission was presented with the BID-file, a document that includes all relevant data related to sports in the area of the City of Novalja.
This extensive document includes chapters dealing with the history of sports, budget allocations for sports, an overview of sports infrastructure, activities of local sports clubs and sports content intended for all ages - from preschoolers to women and the elderly, including people with special needs and disabilities.
