City of Poreč: The Pical investment brings 600 new jobs and about 4 million euros to the budget every year

Valamar organized a presentation in the town hall of the City of Poreč-Parenzo investments Pical, the largest single investment in tourism in Croatia worth 139 million euros, which will ensure year-round tourism of the highest quality, facilities open to the general public, and a contribution to the local community, i.e. it will improve the quality of life of the residents of the City of Poreč.

Specifically, the Pical investment brings 600 new jobs and about 4 million euros to the budget of the City of Poreč-Parenzo every year.

Completion of the works is scheduled for the end of 2025, and pre-sales, employment and training of employees will begin already this year. Hotel Pical will offer around 600 high-value permanent jobs with the aim of employing local employees residing in the city of Poreč, which will have a positive impact on the local economy.

It is estimated that, through taxes and fees related to the Hotel Pical, Valamar will annually pay about 19 million euros into the budget, of which about 4 million euros each year into the budget of the City of Poreč-Parenzo.

We estimate that hotel Pical will contribute around 4 million euros to the budget of the City of Poreč every year. Such significant financial resources can help the City solve some of the important needs of citizens, such as improving working conditions in schools, kindergartens or sports clubs. Valamar Riviera and the City of Poreč have been cooperating for many years on projects to improve the quality of life of our fellow citizens, and I am sure that the arrangement of the Pical zone will be an example of good practice in the sustainable development of tourism.", he said Željko Kukurin, President of the Management Board of Valamar. 

An important factor: Facilities open to the general public and cooperation with the Sports Association of the City of Poreč

Hotel Pical will have 5* and will work throughout the year, with an abundance of various contents for different forms of vacation, which will increase the quality of Poreč tourism and the life of the local population.

Pical beach, all sports and entertainment facilities, indoor pool, promenades and other recreational facilities will be open to the general public, i.e. guests, visitors and local residents will be able to use them.

Valamar also confirmed the continuation of cooperation with the Sports Association of the City of Poreč for the year-round use of the 25-meter indoor pool, as well as the outdoor pool at the Pical Hotel, as a contribution to the quality of training for children and athletes and the promotion of sports in the local community. 

"We welcome the continuation of this investment, which will help Poreč achieve year-round tourism. I believe that the congress center of the future Pical will also contribute to the hosting of various congresses throughout the year, because we are already establishing ourselves in the sphere of fairs, as well as numerous sports competitions, which means that our Žatika hall is occupied almost all year round. For the first time, Poreč will get a large indoor sports pool that will be open all year round, which represents a special value for Poreč's athletes and recreationists, citizens. In addition, the entire zone will be surrounded by a recreational path and numerous walkways and public amenities, open and accessible to all Poreč residents and all our guests, as one of the favorite recreational zones in our city.He said Loris Peršurić, mayor of the city of Poreč.

Extension of the season and positive impact on the local economy 

The Pical area will become the most attractive tourist area in Croatia, which will also have one of the best congress centers with a multifunctional hall with a capacity of up to 1.200 participants and the largest play area for children in Istria, "Maro World".

In Pical, a year-round stay of 1.500 to 2.000 guests per day is expected, and that of those with high paying power, which has a positive effect on consumption outside the hotel, which is estimated at the level of around 15 million euros per year. 

In 2023, Valamar expanded its cooperation with the City of Poreč-Parenzo precisely in the Pical zone by building a kindergarten, which ensured additional places for the children of Poreč families.

For many years, Valamar na Pical has been supporting the work of the Society "Our Children" in the organization of the Children's Summer Camp, where children from Poreč and the surrounding area spend the summer playing and learning new skills. The construction of the Pical hotel will enable the additional arrangement of beaches and public tourist infrastructure, which will increase the quality of guests' stay and will be available to the citizens of the city of Poreč.
