The grand finale of the SUSTOUR project financed under the COSME program of the European Commission will take place September 13 and 14 in Cascais, Portugal. The ambitious three-year undertaking was aimed at promoting sustainable practices within the European tourism industry, and the final conference will present the achievements and best practices of travel agencies and tour operators who have successfully integrated sustainability into their operations as part of the project
The final conference is the crown of the initiative that brought together over 600 travel agencies and tour operators from all over Europe. Over the course of three years, the participating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) improved the sustainability of their operations, while contributing to the wider goals of responsible tourism.
The event will serve as a platform to present the results of the SUSTOUR project, which reflect the joint commitment of the involved SMEs to achieving sustainability goals. The conference will also be an opportunity for networking and connection, as well as strengthening ties between small and medium-sized enterprises that share the vision of sustainable tourism development.
Program highlights of the conference include:
Presentation of the results of the SUSTOUR project: A comprehensive overview of the achievements, innovations and progress of travel agencies and tour operators, participants in support programs within the project, with an emphasis on their contribution to the sustainable perspective of tourism development.
Overview of best practices: The conference will present best practices and hold discussions in which SMEs from all over Europe will share experiences and successes in relation to various sustainability management topics - carbon emissions management, supply chain management, single-use plastic management, sustainable travel management and marketing. sustainability.
Lectures by experts and panel discussions: each of the 5 thematic workshops will be led by an industry expert who will share his knowledge and expertise in the field of sustainability management. The workshops will also include moderated panel discussions that will focus on success stories of small and medium-sized enterprises that have participated in support programs.
The final ceremony of the Travelife award: The conference will end with the awarding ceremony of Travelife awards to small and medium-sized enterprises for exceptional effort and achievement in the context of the SUSTOUR project.
As the final conference draws nearer, anticipation is growing within the tourism community for a unique combination of sharing knowledge, celebrating and acknowledging this event, which gives importance and promises a lasting mark on the path of the travel industry.
