In the second quarter of 2024, 9,6 million passengers were boarded and disembarked in Croatian sea ports. Compared to the same period in 2023, this is an increase of 4,3%, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CSO).

2024 million passengers were transported on ferries and passenger ships in the second quarter of 9,2, which is 4,0% more than in the same period in 2023. The increase in passenger traffic was achieved in all major ferry ports. 4,5% more passenger vehicles and 4,3% more buses were loaded and unloaded on ships compared to the same quarter in 2023.

Out of the total number of passengers in sea ports, 441 thousand of them were disembarked from cruise ships and visited, among others, the ports of Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar and Rijeka. Compared to the long quarter of 2023, this is an increase of 12,2%.

In the first half of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, the total number of ships arriving at seaports increased by 0,9%, the total traffic of passengers increased by 5,4%, and the total traffic of goods decreased by 16,2%.

In the period from January to June 2024, 57 foreign cruise ships entered Croatian seaports and made 244 cruises. There were 351 thousand passengers on those ships, who stayed in Croatia for 524 days.

The number of trips by foreign cruise ships in the period from January to June 2024 increased by 7,0% compared to the first six months of 2023, and the number of passengers on these ships increased by 23,9%. The number of days spent by these ships in the territorial sea of ​​the Republic of Croatia is lower by 2,2%.

The mostše kružof voyages made by ships flying the flag of Malta

In the first six months of 2024, foreign cruise ships sailed under the flags of twelve countries. The most round trips were made by ships under the flag of Malta, 71 trips, which is 29,1% of the total trips made in the first six months of 2024. They are followed by round trips of foreign ships made under the flags of the Bahamas (56 trips), Panama (31 trips) and Norway (26 trips).

Out of a total of 244 round trips by foreign ships, most of them were made in Dubrovnik-Neretva County (48,4%) and Split-Dalmatia County (24,2%), which is a total of 72,6%. The remaining 27,4% of trips were made in the following counties: Zadar (14,7%), Istria (5,3%), Primorsko-Goranska (4,1%) and Šibenik-Knin (3,3%).

The port of Dubrovnik is traditionally the largestše visit

The port of Dubrovnik had the most visits by foreign cruise ships (162 visits), followed by the ports of Split (103 visits), Zadar (69 visits), Hvar (28 visits), Korčula and Šibenik (26 visits each) and Rovinj (21 visits). ).

Traffic growth on both highways and airports

Our airports are breaking records again this year.

In the first 6 months, the turnover is significantly higher compared to the same period last year. Zagreb Airport achieved the highest traffic with almost two million passengers and a growth of 16,5 percent. 

Split Airport, which achieved the highest traffic in June, had a total of almost 200 million passengers in the first half of the year, and the growth was 11 percent. In the first half of the year, Dubrovnik Airport had almost 100 million and 26 passengers, with a traffic growth of as much as XNUMX percent.

The busy weekend on the highways is also on the rise 

As a reminder, from August 2 to 5, 4,4 percent more vehicles passed on the highways than in the same days last year, and 13 percent more tolls were collected, HAC reported.

The increase in vehicle traffic is the result of slightly more than 1,34 million vehicles that passed through the highways under the jurisdiction of the HAC. On the other hand, more than 10,28 million euros of tolls were collected without VAT, which is 13 percent more than last year in the same days.
