Today, the full profile of the section of the Istrian Y from Cerovlje to Lupoglav was put into operation, ie an additional 13 kilometers of the full profile of the Istrian Y to the Učka tunnel.

The opening of the full profile practically between Pazin to Učka on the eve of this tourist season will additionally affect safety, less crowds, but also the flow of traffic.

"The integration of the County of Istria into the entire motorway network in the Republic of Croatia, and thus into European corridors, means the conclusion of a project that has been built for decades and which has gained a quality positive dimension through public-private partnership with Bina Istra.", Said the Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the ceremony of launching the full profile of the section of the Istrian Y from Cerovlje to Lupoglav, emphasizing that this is especially important because Istria is over 90 percent self-destined.

He added that the project worth the second pipe of Učka and the project documentation for solving the road to Matulji in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County remain worth 1,5 billion kuna. The opening of three kilometers on the Lupoglav-Vranje section is still pending, and the continuation of the construction of the road from Matulji to the Učka tunnel should be completed by 2025 at the latest.

"The most important thing is to bring things to an end and we will all be proud of this project, which in economic terms, in construction, but also in terms of traffic safety has given a whole new dimension to the Croatian highway network, especially in Istria., Plenković emphasized.

The Istrian Y is the first project to build road infrastructure according to the model of public-private partnership in Croatia, in which 800 million euros have been invested since the beginning. This road network is the lifeblood of the Istrian peninsula with over 10 million vehicles a year.

"Together we know how important transport connections and transport infrastructure are to us, which is especially evident today when Istria is recording exceptional tourist results in the corona crisis, and we know that we are known as a car destination. Quality transport connections are certainly a step further for the development of our economy, especially in the tourism segment. What I would especially like to point out is the fact that this was the most risky stock, when we talk about those, unfortunately, black statistics, so this is also one big step in terms of traffic safety. ” emphasized the Istrian prefect Boris Miletić.

In addition to the existing 100 km full profile of the motorway, at the end of 2018 the construction of the full profile of the Istrian Y continued on the section Pazin - Učka tunnel. The Cerovlje - Lupoglav section (under phase 2B1-2), 13 km long, is part of Phase 2B1 of the Istrian Y, which includes the construction of the second carriageway of the A8 motorway (2 lanes and 1 stop) from the Rogovići junction to the Vranje junction, total length 28 km. The value of the Cerovlje - Lupoglav section and the Rebri rest area is HRK 550 million

It should also be noted that the connection of the Pelješac Bridge structures is expected this week, which should be open to traffic before the summer season of 2022, along with all access roads.
