The only fishing fair in Croatia is once again in Poreč - the 16th Crofish begins

More than 80 exhibitors from Croatia, Italy, Slovenia and Spain will present their products in Poreč at the 16th edition of the Crofish fair, the only international fair of fishing, fishing equipment, aquaculture and water sports in Croatia. Entrance to the fair is free, and from November 22 to 24, more than 4 visitors from Croatia and the region are expected, during which everyone interested will be able to experience all aspects of Crofish - from professional to expert, educational, gastronomic and sports.  

The correct valorization of seafaring and fishing is the motivation for starting the Crofish fair, he points out Robert Momić, president of the Chamber of Crafts of the Istrian County and president of the organizing committee of the fair.

"There is no doubt what built the Croatian coast, fishing and seafaring have always been among the first branches of the economy, and our fishermen and sailors are known all over the world. The number of exhibitors at the fair is growing, as well as the number of inquiries for exhibitions, so we are already thinking about expanding the exhibition space in the Žatika hall for the 17th edition. This year too, we paid special attention to the educational part, where representatives of fisheries administrations and scientists from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy and Montenegro will discuss the state of fisheries, but also the increasing impact of climate change on the fish stock, all with the aim of creating a sustainable fisheries for future generations",  he orders A boy towards the opening.

On the external and internal exhibition area of ​​the fair, with a total size of 3.500 m2, visitors will see a wide range of products and various solutions for fishing and aquaculture, fishing equipment and tools, vessels, protective clothing, equipment for fishing and water sports, as well as complete equipment for breeding shellfish and fish.

In addition to the exhibition part, a Cooking show is also held every day, where top chefs Gianpaulo Sardot, Emanuel Melon, Dean Gluhak & Milena doo, Martin Vižintin, Martin Bukovac, Saša Pribičević, Marko Obradović, Kristijan Kovačević, as well as a former candidate of the Masterchef show, Gaia Zec and Tuna show by Petar Stojković, to prepare traditional and modern fish and seafood dishes for visitors, combining continental and coastal Croatia at the same time. Thus, part of the fair is dedicated to freshwater fish specialties, and the Sports Fishing Association Đurđenovac in Poreč will prepare the most famous representative of freshwater fish, carp, according to a traditional recipe from Slavonia-Baranja.

All parts of this rich program will certainly contribute to the popularization of fishery products for the population and the tourist market. Nenad Velenik, director of the Tourist Board of the City of Poreč, expressed his satisfaction with the rich program that combines tradition and modernity.

This fair is not only an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, but also a strong indicator of how our City is committed to supporting the development of the economic and professional sectors. Crofish has become a synonym for excellence and innovation in this area, and its organization in our sports hall Žatika contributes to strengthening the image of Poreč as an ideal place for top events." he said Velenik.

In addition to the indoor and outdoor space of the Žatika hall, Crofish also extends to the area of ​​the former Customs wharf on the Poreč waterfront, where visitors will be able to visit and view several different types of vessels and talk to their crews. These are the P-212 vessels of the Ministry of the Interior, and EcoCUBE, a product of the Marservis shipyard from Kaštelir, will be presented - an autonomous floating collection station for collecting solid waste and wastewater from vessels, as well as fishing vessels specialized in various types of fishing.

The fair also offers a children's corner and educational-creative workshops with animators, as well as free test diving in the heated pool in front of Žatika, and in the water area in front of Poreč there will be a sailing regatta and competitions in angling from a moored boat, angling for juniors with a rod from the shore and hunting predator with live baits and decoys. In addition to sports and gastronomic events, visitors can expect more than ten expert lectures.

The organizer of the fair is the Association of Craftsmen of Bujština - Umag, with the support of the Chamber of Crafts of the Istrian County, the City of Poreč-Parenzo, the Istrian County, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of the Interior of business and the Croatian Chamber of Crafts.

The fair can be visited on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 19 p.m., or until Sunday at 18 p.m., and for more information, visit the official website www.crofish.eu. The Crofish fair is co-financed with the funds of the European Union from the program for fisheries and aquaculture, measure IV.3 "Putting fishery and aquaculture products on the market" of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
