The season of attractive European cycling downhill starts in Veli Lošinj

Cycling competition IXS European Downhill Cup Lošinj 2022 from the 1st to the 3rd of April will be held in Veli Lošinj. The famous downhill bike race brings together a large number of brave competitors who will descend the 1350-meter-long track.

Veli Lošinj will thus host the best European mountain bikers for the first time, after the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Lošinj was held at the same place four years ago.

IXS European Downhill Cup Lošinj 2022 will be run on the same route as then, but it is a customized version for a wider range of competitors. The trail starts at the top of the hill Sv. Ivan above Veli Lošinj, and ends right by the sea in the center of town. The trail is short, but rough and rocky, with several big falls and jumps and a unique section of the street.

Divided into categories, about two hundred competitors from 21 countries will take part in the descent. Germany, Slovenia, Switzerland, Austria, France, Hungary, Finland, Italy, Spain, Poland are just some of the participating countries.

The world competition in April 2018 was watched by more than 10 viewers, and more than 5 million followed it through numerous media platforms. Namely, the IXS European Downhill Cup has many fans, and Veli Lošinj will be the first race of the European Cup this year. The season starts a week earlier with the World Cup in France.

Extreme cycling competition or downhill 'Downhill' originated from the spring training of Slovenian cyclists, and the first race in the MTB downhill was held on Lošinj in May 2013. After years of summering on Lošinj and riding on Lošinj trails, the idea logically came to the organizer - Mountain Bike Club Trbovlje.

In addition to the Slovenian club, the host of the competition will be the Lošinj Athletic Club with the support of sponsors: the City of Mali Lošinj, the Tourist Board of the City of Mali Lošinj, Lošinj Hotels & Villas and the Kvarner Tourist Board.
