The second edition of the 'XCO Lošinj - cross country mountain' race was held on Lošinj

Adrenaline and cycling prevailed again this year at the XCO Lošinj - cross country mountain competition that took place on March 16 and 17, 2024 in Mali Lošinj.

Approximately 200 competitors from different countries also tested their strength in Malološinjska this year Čikat bay, on a 4 km long track with a height difference of 100 m, with all the elements of modern XCO, ascents, descents and technical sections.

The winners of the second Lošinj XCO edition are: Naglić Roku (SI) and Wojtyla Gabrieli (PL) in the Elite category and the winners in the Juniors category; Friedl to Anat (AT) and Grangl to Antonia (AT).

Elite - men's category:

1. Naglić Rok (SI)

Elite - women's category:

1. Wojtyla Gabriela (PL)

Junior - men's category:

"We were served by very nice, sunny weather, which is perfect for me. I really like Lošinj because I have always loved places by the sea, especially in winter", said the winner of the men's Elite category Roku suddenly.

"Mali Lošinj is a wonderful place. I already visited this place in October at the previous XCO race when I won second place. Now I'm in good shape and winning first place this year is a wonderful moment for me", the winner in the women's Elite category looked back, Wojtyla Gabrieli.

Apart from being part of the Croatian Cup, the race is the only mountain biking discipline that is also part of the Olympic Games.

Competitors fight for points that could bring them an appearance at the Olympic Games, and it is organized by the City of Mali Lošinj, the Tourist Board of the City of Mali Lošinj, MTB Trbovlje, Athletic Club Lošinj and Jadranka turizma doo 

"We are satisfied with the second edition of the XCO race, with a large number of competitors, additional arrangement of the track and good weather conditions. We hope for a similar turnout at the next edition of XCO Lošinj - cross country mountain race", said the representative of MTB Trbovlje, Sebastjan Zmrzljak.

Director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mali Lošinj, Dalibor Cvitkovic announced the upcoming events that will take place on Lošinj this spring.

For all fans, more cycling events await us in April, namely races that were on the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) calendar.

The "4Islands MTB race - epic series" from April 16 to 20 will also be held on Lošinj this year, in addition to Rab, Cres and Krk.

From April 26 to 28, the "IXS European Downhill Cup Lošinj 2024" will once again arrive in Veli Lošinj.

"We recommend that you also explore our digital display of Outdoor - HIKE & BIKE Lošinj with as many as 16 cycling and 18 hiking trails and routes. GPS markers and a location map with detailed descriptions and photos will certainly help you explore the numerous routes of Lošinj, as well as our smaller islands.", suggested Cvitković.
