Croatia Airlines, the Croatian national airline and member of the Star Alliance, today welcomed its second new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with a capacity of 149 seats, in Zagreb. Thus, the project to renew the entire fleet continued, which began on July 30 this year, when the first of a total of 15 new Airbus A220 aircraft arrived in Zagreb, with which the national airline plans to replace the existing fleet by 2027.
The second new Airbus A220 aircraft of Croatia Airlines arrived directly from the Airbus factory in Mirabel, Canada, and was accepted at the company's technical center at the Zagreb airport, where all necessary preparations will be made for its inclusion in regular flight operations.
The newest aircraft of Croatia Airlines has the registration number 9A-CAI and was named Split.
Airbus A220 aircraft are new generation aircraft and are designed as a completely new product, offering the best performance in terms of efficiency and noise emissions, and a first-class experience for crews and passengers thanks to innovative design and latest generation technology. Designed for the 100- to 150-seat passenger aircraft market segment, the A220 aircraft has a maximum range of 3600 nm (6700 km).
It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PurePower® PW1500 GTF™ turbofan engines of the latest generation, and it is additionally worth noting that it consumes 25 percent less fuel and emits the same amount of carbon dioxide measured per passenger seat compared to previous generation passenger aircraft. In addition, the A220 emits 50 percent less external noise compared to the previous generation of aircraft and about 40 percent less nitrogen oxides compared to civil aviation standards.
