A coordination meeting was held in Ogulin today Croatian National Tourist Board s directors and representatives of county tourist boards and the city of Zagreb. With the director of the CNTB Kristjan Staničić, the coordination meeting was attended by 15 representatives of county tourist boards from the coast and the continent, and the main topics of the meeting were the expected tourist traffic on the occasion of the upcoming Easter holidays, as well as announcements for the main part of the season.

"After a certain slowdown in reservations, which occurred as a result of unfortunate events in Ukraine, we are currently noticing the reactivation of the market, as well as further growth of interest in travel. If the general situation in Europe remains stable and secure, we can expect very good results, first on the occasion of the upcoming Easter holidays and then during the main summer part of the season. ", he stressed director Staničić, adding that this year will also be marked by last minute booking, while in terms of tourist traffic, markets from the closest surroundings of Croatia will come to the fore again.

During the meeting, representatives of county tourist boards confirmed the positive trends in tourism in the first three months of this year, ie some counties even exceeded the results from the same record period in 2019, while others came significantly closer to pre-pandemic trends. When it comes to the upcoming Easter holidays, the tourism sector at the national level expects traffic growth compared to last Easter, during which 140 thousand overnight stays were realized, while at the county level during the Easter holidays traffic is expected to grow by 10 to 20 percent, depending on county.

When it comes to expectations for the main summer part of the season, the system of tourist boards confirms that interest in Croatian destinations is very pronounced, reservations have been reactivated and positive results of tourist traffic are expected in principle. However, it was emphasized that future trends will largely depend on the further development of the situation in Ukraine, as well as border crossing protocols that countries, ie the most important markets for Croatian tourism, will adopt in accordance with the epidemiological situation.

We would like to add that the new tourist information portal Croatia.hr, which is being developed as part of the Croatian Digital Tourism project, was presented at the meeting, and the methodology for drafting the Strategic Marketing and Operational Plan of Croatian Tourism for 2022-2026 was presented. As he pointed out director Staničić, is a document that will define a new marketing strategy, communication channels, but also which will provide guidelines for a new umbrella communication concept, or a completely new communication strategy in the global market.
