In the Split-Dalmatia County raced tourists are motivated by gastronomy, culture and art, guests spend more than before, they are satisfied with most of the services and their quality, and the biggest remarks have disorganized traffic and parking lots in Split and its wider area, are the conclusions of the research "Attitudes and consumption of tourists in Croatia - TOMAS Croatia 2022/2023." of the Institute for Tourism, which was made only for the Split-Dalmatia County and presented at the TZ County Conference.

In that research, at the request of the Split-Dalmatia County Regional Office (SDŽ), special attention was paid to the analysis attitudes of domestic guests, which make up a significant part of the region's tourist traffic, especially in the preseason and postseason, she said Ivana Vladović, director of the TZ of the Split-Dalmatia County.

The research showed that the share of guests with greater purchasing power and consumption growth is increasing.

According to the words Ivan Sever, scientific associate at the Institute for Tourism, who presented the results at the session of the Assembly of the Tourist Board of the Split-Dalmatia County, highlights the growth in consumption.

"Compared to 2019, the average daily expenses in SDŽ per person increased by 82 percent. The average daily spending from 106 euros increased to 193 euros per day. It is also interesting that guests from the USA, Switzerland, Italy and England spend the most, and the least visitors from neighboring countries and domestic guests. There is a significant difference in the spending of guests in the Split-Dalmatia County and those staying in other coastal areas, where an average of 140 euros is spent per day." Sever pointed out.

It has also been shown that the average overnight stay in Split is only one day shorter than in the Makarska Riviera, where the average guest stays for eight nights.

"This research will help us detect the main problems and we will work intensively on solving them. This year, we will co-finance much more manifestations and events in the preseason and postseason, in order to encourage the organizers to adapt their work to the fact that the guests are there and that they need to be provided with facilities. Likewise, everything that is history, culture, gastronomy, everything that is authentic, will have our support", concluded Ivana Vladović, director of TZ SDŽ.
