November 23, 2022

The past three Saturdays - November 5, 12 and 19 - in the area Central Istria Tourist Board were marked by the "discovery" of new hiking trails. We thus combined the presentation of the newly groomed trails to the general public and recreation, which, due to the sedentary lifestyle of the majority of the population, is very necessary for each of us. In addition, all visitors tasted local gastronomy.

During November, the Tourist Board of Central Istria (TZSI) organized free guided hikes in the municipalities of Gračišće, Pićan, Karojba and Sveti Lovreč. Explore central Istria in Autumn, or Discover central Istria in autumn. The tours were organized during three Saturdays in November. At the end of the hike, the participants enjoyed the Istrian manestra in catering establishments in the area of those municipalities, all with the aim of bringing the gastronomy of our area closer.

The first hike was Along the path of Saint Nicephorus with the share Gavranovo krilo (716). It is a circular hiking trail that starts in Gračišće, passes through Pićan and returns to Gračišće and is 11.1 kilometers long. One of the attractions on the trail is, as the name suggests, the Gavranovo krilo waterfall. Although the hike started with gray clouds, the sun shone by the end of the hike. A group of people eager to hike enjoyed the nature that surrounded them during the four-hour hike, and after finishing it, they enjoyed a homemade maneštre in Konoba Marino, in Gračišće.

This was followed by a hike Along the Quadruvium trail (717). It is a circular footpath in the territory of the municipality of Karojba, 11.5 kilometers long, and its name Quadruvium is the Latin word for crossroads, after which Karojba got its name. Everyone present got to know a part of the history of the municipality of Karojba and enjoyed the view of the Badavac spring and the Sopajac sinkhole, i.e. Veli dol. At the end of the hike in agrotourism Tikel, all hikers were greeted with Istrian maneštra and fritters.

The last hike was on San Lorenzo II trails (719), circular footpath in the area of St. Lovreč. It is an easy family trail, approximately 10 kilometers long, located in a historically very significant municipality, the center of which is the town of Sveti Lovreč, the so-called fortified town - museum. After a three-hour hike, right before the rain, the group arrived at Tomaž's tavern in Voštene, where they enjoyed homemade brandy and Istrian maneštra.

Despite the bad forecasts for all the mentioned dates, all hikes passed without a drop of rain, in a good mood and positive fatigue that overcame us at the end. The interest in the hikes was really great, so already 7 days after the start of receiving applications, all places were filled, even though we increased the number twice. All groups were in the safe hands of three guides.

We are sorry that we could not accommodate all those interested, but we definitely recommend that everyone who did not get to participate in the hikes visit the new (as well as the old) trails in the area of the TZ of central Istria and enjoy the nature, picturesque towns, stunning views and attractive cultural sights that can meet on them.
