Gingerbread and kulen instead of English sausage with beans? Švargl instead of black pudding? Poppy seeds instead of muffins? The guests of the new Heritage Hotel King Kresimir in the center of Šibenik were convinced that the Srijem breakfast can be an integral part of the tourist offer in the whole of Croatia, as part of the project "Srijem Breakfast - a new gastronomic brand in the heart of Sibenik " initiated by the Tourist Board of Vukovar-Srijem County (TZ VSZ).

In the spirit of Srijem and Slavonian hospitality, the VSZ Tourist Board from eastern Croatia brought the finest delicacies and royally honored the people of Šibenik and their guests. "With the Srijem breakfast in Šibenik, we launched an initiative to make Croatian products from the east of Croatia an integral part of the daily offer, especially small and boutique hotels that focus on eno-gastronomy and a top gourmet experience. In this way, guests broaden their horizons and  get to know the traditional gastronomy of the whole of Croatia, and hotels have added value and top products ", pointed out Rujana Bušić Srpak, director of the Vukovar-Srijem County Tourist Board, and added that King Kresimir was not chosen by chance to serve the first Srijem breakfast on the coast.

For this occasion, top delicacies arrived from local family farms and from the Hotel Dunav in Ilok, the recently proud owner of the Michelin recommendation.

In addition to Aca's farm in Tordinci, Aquarius restaurant in Bošnjaci, Ilok cellars in Ilok, Gondola picnic area in Sotin and Villa Lenije in Vinkovci, Hotel Dunav is marked Tastes of Srijem and Slavonia, and what kind of groceries are best checked from 1 to 7 October during the Autumn Taste Week event when you can get the most delicious dishes at promotional prices.

"The average guest tasted all the world's specialties, wines and cocktails, but the reason for their arrival is to enjoy our indigenous cuisine and that is why we gladly supported this initiative. Already at the first gathering, we combined local products and designed a summer cocktail - we combined homemade elderberry juice and excellent Traminer brandy. ", said Fabiano Baranović, Executive Director of King Kresimir.

"Our county is known for its attractive events throughout the year. If you have not arrived at the Ilok grape harvest, which has been held for 51 years at the end of August, the next opportunity is Vinkovci Autumn. These events are great - but not the only reason to visit us. The coast along the Danube from Vukovar to Ilok is a promenade of castles, museums, architectural units, archeology, natural heritage, and this is confirmed by the title EDEN (European Destination of Excellence), which the destination Vukovar - Vučedol - Ilok received in 2017 and 2018 tourism", Pointed out Rujana Bušić Srpak.
