Another large sea and underwater cleaning operation was held in Milna on the island of Brač. In this year's last environmental action, which officially closed the diving season, the water area of Milna harbor and the ACI marina of the same name was relieved of a significant amount of waste.
The initiators and organizers of this commendable undersea cleaning action were the Association for Research, Protection and Conservation of the Sea and Undersea "TRITON" - Brač from Milna, the Diving Center "DRAULIK" Milna and the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Milna. Many professional divers, volunteers and employees of ACI Marina Milna joined the action, continuing the tradition of caring for the cleanliness of the sea and the environment, which the largest chain of marinas in the Mediterranean, ACI dd, implements through all units of its system.
After the last in a series of actions to clean the Adriatic waters, the one in the ACI marina Skradin, as well as the ecological action held in Šimuni, in which Kristijan Gligora, the youngest underwater archaeologist in the world and ACI's ambassador, also participated, the ACI marina Milna was relieved, as well as the nearby port of the same name, from waste and impurities that accumulated in the area during the season. In addition to the organizers and employees of the ACI marina Milna as the host of this ecological event, RK Puntar from Split, divers from the fire brigades from Varaždin and Split, divers from the HGSS station Split and the residents of Milna with their boats participated in the action itself. With this, the last in a series, underwater cleaning action on the island of Brač, this diving season was officially closed, and the water area there was cleaned of four and a half cubic meters of various waste.
"The sea is not only a source of life, but also a source of happiness and exceptional beauty, and it is our duty to protect it. In addition to the many years of education of divers about the beauties and ways in which we, as small people, can get involved in the protection of nature, we also try to act with concrete activities in the form of actions cleaning the sea, and in this way give back to the sea all that it gives us. I am glad that ACI marina Milna has been our partner in this story for six years. We started this diving season with an eco-action of the sea and we will close it in this way, by carrying out the fourth campaign in 2024. Caring for the sea and the principles of sustainable tourism must be our present, as well as a pledge for our future.", she pointed out Anamarija Paradinović, master's degree in ecology and marine protection and diving instructor at the Draulik Diving Center.
Along with local organizations, associations and diving clubs that operate along the Adriatic coast, ACI continuously demonstrates its commitment to preserving the cleanliness of the sea and undersea by its involvement in the organization and implementation of environmental actions. The best proof of this is the cleaning campaigns that are regularly held throughout the year in ACI's marinas, as well as the internationally recognized Blue Flags that proudly fly in all year-round marinas of the system, and are proof of the cleanliness of the sea and responsible management of the sea and the coast.
"For us at ACI, environmental protection is not only an obligation, but also a privilege to contribute to the preservation of the natural beauty of the Adriatic Sea through our activities. Underwater clean-up actions like this one in our marina in Milna are proof of our commitment to sustainable development and care for the environment. I am especially happy that this initiative was joined by members of the local community, volunteers and divers, whose commitment confirms the importance of joint action in the preservation of our sea and coast take responsibility for the environment. We are proud of the successful cooperation with all participants in this campaign and we believe that together we are building the foundations for a cleaner and brighter future.", he said Darko Franicevic, director of ACI marina Milna.
