During the implementation of the project "Sustainable Tourism through Social Entrepreneurship", Croatia Open Land Tours DMC, the project leader, achieves high quality networking with higher education institutions, rural development organizations and local governments in rural areas of Karlovac and Zagreb County.
The goal of project activities through social entrepreneurship is to bring life back to rural areas by improving existing and creating new tourist facilities.
That it is possible, he proves Croatia Open Land Tours DMC who, as a social entrepreneur, are guided by the principles of sustainable development, pay special attention to the economic, ecological and socio-cultural principles of development. Special emphasis is placed on the preservation and protection of nature, but also on educating the community to raise awareness about the value of natural and cultural heritage. A social entrepreneur in this context implies, among other things, reinvesting profits in the community and involving the community in development.
Presentation of a new tourist product - "To Klek through fairy tales"
That is how it was on June 13.06.2021, XNUMX. in cooperation with the Tourist Board of Ogulin, created an informative event within the Festival of Fairy Tales in Ogulin, to show participants and partners through a practical example the synergy of joint work of DMC Agency and the Tourist Board of Ogulin in creating DMC offer.
"For the concept itself, we were greatly helped by our team member, in the role of host, Mihaela Stipetić, who, knowing the wider local terrain, recognized and singled out ideal examples of good practice. Arriving in the morning in Ogulin, we were greeted by the Tourist Board of Ogulin and the Croatian Mountaineering Association Klek in front of the Frankopan Castle with an introductory speech. We started the activities with a guided tour of Klek by the Croatian Mountaineering Association Klek, where we were greeted at the mountain lodge by the local Ogulin bruise and the narrator of the Living Words with Fairy Tales - Sabina Gvozdić", States Croatia Open Land Tours DMC.
After the story of legends and fairy tales from Ogulin, the program continued to Sirana Čavrag where they tasted various cheeses and presented the entrepreneurial path from idea to realization of Sirana Čavrag as an example of good entrepreneurship practice that stands out for numerous awards for its top work at high quality.
The journey or story of this new tourist product continued towards the Konaci Excursion Site, co-financed by European funds, which with excellent accommodation in indigenous mountain wooden houses and an attractive "Forest Spirits" trail provides an authentic experience of local gastronomy through game specialties. The day ended with a return to Ogulin where the program ended with an introduction to the local souvenir maker owner, Miroslav Turkovic, Moemoe souvenir shop, Sasa Vejzovic from OPG Vejzovic who make various chokeberry products and the Association of Producers and Processors of Ogulin Cabbage led by President Marinko Sabljak.
Together with project partners, LAG Vallis Colapis, Karlovac Polytechnic and Kamanje Municipality, through examples of good practice, we got to know the situation on the ground, created new acquaintances and potential partnerships and created more successful tourist offers in the field, according to Croatia. Open Land Tours DMC and add that the participants of free educational workshops for the unemployed stood out, who with their observations and suggestions greatly contributed to the success of the event.
With new partners, stronger mutual networking and cooperation, the tourist offer of the Ogulin area is raised to a new level, and with the support of the Tourist Board of the city of Ogulin, the destination management of the location with its surroundings is strengthened.

The main goals of the project are education on social entrepreneurship, sustainable tourism, development of awareness about nature protection and its biodiversity for the unemployed. One of the main goals is to strengthen the capacity of the agency 's employees to perform social - entrepreneurial activities in tourism. For the needs of the project, 6 people are employed who work on the implementation of activities and the achievement of the main goals of the project.
