In the same period, there were 539.173 tourist arrivals, which represents an increase of 3% compared to the previous year. This reveals that Poreč was visited by a larger number of guests who stayed in the destination a little shorter than last year.

Mostly Germans

In the structure of overnight stays, guests from Germany traditionally had the most overnight stays with 918.573 overnight stays (-5%) and 117.791 arrivals (-3%), followed by guests from Austria with 566.438 overnight stays (+5%) and 117.972 arrivals (+6%). The average length of stay of guests in the destination is 6 days, which is at the level of 2022. In recent years, two-week trips are increasingly being replaced by shorter trips. In this sense, the summer vacation is shortened in favor of several shorter vacations distributed throughout the year.

Therefore, statistical data that speak in favor of achieving 3% more arrivals and the same number of overnight stays compared to 2022 are not surprising, according to the Tourist Board of the city of Poreč.

Family tourism destination

According to the type of accommodation from the beginning of the year to September 10, the most overnight stays were realized in hotel accommodation with an increase of 2% compared to 2022, followed by household facilities where 3% fewer overnight stays were realized compared to last year.

According to the organization of arrivals, 53% of guests came to Poreč through travel agencies, and 47% individually. According to the age groups in 2023, the most numerous guests were between the ages of 45-54, i.e. families with large children, and guests between the ages of 35-44, representing families with small children. This further confirms that Poreč is a family tourism destination.

With an enviable result of over 3 million tourist overnight stays and over half a million tourist arrivals, Poreč confirmed its status as one of the leaders of Croatian tourism in 2023.

This is the result of the synergy of the private and public sectors, continuous investment in infrastructure, raising the quality of accommodation facilities, enriching the tourist offer and organizing a large number of events throughout the year.
