The Zagreb County Tourist Board will announce a public tender at the end of February for the allocation of funds to projects of local tourist boards from the Fund for Tourism Underdeveloped Areas and the Continent.

Funds will be available for research and strategic planning projects, tourism product development, communication and advertising projects, destination management, as well as for the preparation of projects that will apply for funds from EU funds, i.e. co-financing of the domestic component of projects implemented with EU funds.

The minimum value of an individual project can amount to 10.000 euros, and the approved funds can amount to 100% of the total eligible costs. At this year's first meeting of the coordination of tourist boards of cities and municipalities and tourist boards of areas in Zagreb County, held in Velika Gorica, the director of TZ Zagreb County Ivana Alilović introduced the participants to the competition.

"Projects that encourage innovation, creativity and sustainability are welcome" said Alilović, inviting tourist boards to join together in a project that will generate new content that will raise the recognition of the destination. Funds from the Fund for Tourism Underdeveloped Areas and the Continent are also expected by the TZ of Zagreb County, which submitted three projects to the competition of the Croatian Tourist Board, and they hope for positive results and support from the umbrella institution that has supported our work in the previous four years.

"We have started the certification process for Green Destination and we expect to be declared the largest certified sustainable tourism region in Croatia at the largest tourism fair in Berlin.Alilović added.

Let us remind you that last year the Zagreb County started the certification process according to the Green Destinations model. It is an organization whose goal is to improve the sustainable development of destinations and tourism stakeholders.

Directors and representatives of local tourist boards and regional tourist boards were also introduced to this year's WRC Croatia Rally. A large part of this sports event, from April 18 to 21, will take place in Zagreb County.

"WRC Croatia Rally is more than a sport. Spectators following this competition spend an average of 371 euros per day, and 30% of them return to the destination where the rally took place." said Dino Deljkić, secretary of the rally.

At the meeting, the education "Sustainability in tourism" was announced, which will be carried out by the Velika Gorica Polytechnic on the initiative of the TZ of the Zagreb County. It is intended for directors of tourist boards and key stakeholders in tourism. It is a module, which earns the student 5 ECTS points, the emphasis of which is on the use of marketing tools for the promotion of sustainable destinations and on safety in tourism

"We have to position our destinations as best as possible compared to others. We have to make good use of the advantages we have, above all the accessibility to the city of Zagreb." concluded Ivana Alilović, director of TZ Zagrebačka County.
