The results for the period from January 1 to September 30, 2022 in the e-Visitor system show that there were a total of 343.485 arrivals and 2,024.519 overnight stays on the Crikvenica Riviera. Expressed as a percentage, compared to the same period last year, tourist arrivals are better by 32,59%, and overnight stays by 20,75%.

Compared to 2019, a record year in terms of tourism achievements, the comparison is as follows: this year there are 1,80% fewer arrivals and 5,79% fewer overnight stays (0,80% fewer overnight stays if we look at commercial accommodation only).

The Crikvenica Riviera is among the most popular, in the "TOP 10 Croatian destinations" according to overnight stays in the period from January to September, and in an enviable second place as one of the most desirable destinations for domestic tourists with 403.503 overnight stays.

Looking at the markets, since the beginning of the year the highest number of overnight stays was achieved by Germans (515.090), which is 11,14% more overnight stays than in 2019. They are followed by domestic guests (403.503), Hungarians (165.941), Austrians (157.060) and Slovenians (154.083).

We asked the director how satisfied the Tourist Board of the City of Crikvenica is with these results Marijana Biondić, which states that after three completed quarters, they are very satisfied with the results so far because, after a record 2019, this year they are also recording results that place Riviera Crikvenica among the 10 most successful Croatian destinations and in second place in Kvarner.

"Namely, in total we have only 1,80% fewer arrivals compared to 2019. The difference in overnight stays is slightly larger (-5,79%), which is the result of guests not registering, mostly in non-commercial accommodation, which has also been shown in recent years in tourism results. Compared to 2019, the drop in overnight stays in non-commercial accommodation amounts to 30%, which leaves us with a shortfall of around 110.000 overnight stays. Other destinations in Kvarner and in the rest of Croatia have similar problems, which is a consequence of the insufficient activity of the State Inspectorate in the field. The Crikvenica Riviera has maintained its good position on the market because commercial tourist traffic is almost at the level of 2019."

When looking at tourist success by Riviera locations, 1,008.992 overnight stays were realized in Crikvenica, 550.402 in Selc, 303.024 in Dramlj and 162.101 in Jadranovo - in all places more than last year in the same period. Most tourist traffic was realized in household facilities (48,28%), followed by hotels (20,90%), 11,57% in other types of accommodation, and 6,25% in camps. The rest is made up of non-commercial accommodation.

The number of overnight stays in hotels increased by 38,32% compared to last year, and by 2019% compared to 12,28. Average occupancy of five-star hotels increased by eight days compared to 2019, and overnight stays by 9,44%, while the percentage in four-star hotels is 2,21%. The number of overnight stays in camps is better than in 2021 by 36,44% and by 6,39% in 2019.

Looking only at the last month, the conclusion is that in the period from September 1 to September 30, 33.867 guests visited the Crikvenica Riviera and 219.121 overnight stays were achieved, i.e. 9,91% more overnight stays than last year, and 3,08% less than the record year of 2019. .

In September of this year, German guests led the way in traffic - they had a share of 33,46% in overnight stays, followed by domestic guests with 19,21%. Austrians are third in order (10,20%), followed by Slovenians (6,24%) and Czechs (5,30%). Of the mentioned markets, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic achieve a higher number of overnight stays compared to the same period in 2019 - the German market recorded a growth of 30,86%, Austria 11,71% and the Czech Republic 13,62%.

"Statistics show better occupancy of five- and four-star hotels, and the situation is similar in family accommodation. Numerous smaller and larger investments are underway in the tourism sector, all with the aim of raising quality, which should ultimately extend the tourist season. How in order to increase the number of guests outside the main season, first of all we must work on designing targeted attractive programs and package deals in that period, raise the hotel category and the level of service quality in the hotel and catering segment. outdoor activities and superb gastronomy, given that they are not so dependent on weather conditions", Biondić concluded.
