Seven family and small hotels measure their carbon footprint, and yesterday in Karlovac seven carbon footprint certificates were awarded to members of the National Association of Family and Small Hotels.

Along with the certificate, they received a sticker confirming that they measure and reduce their carbon footprint.

The National Association of Family and Small Hotels was the first in Croatian tourism to launch a new decarbonization project in its facilities in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. It is the third project in the last four years as part of the green and digital transition of the family and small hotel industry, preceded by Eco Green Hotel and Gourmet Authentic.

"This is a sign that small entrepreneurs in tourism are well aware of climate change, they actively want to influence the reduction of greenhouse gases and thereby achieve significant savings, but also a guarantee to guests that they are trying to eliminate negative impacts on the destination through their business activities," said Klarić, who is in Karlovac premiered the production profiling of members, a new project of the association. The association has created four new product profiles - Health&wellness, Family hotel, Business hotel and  Active&Adventure." said the president of the National Association of Family and Small Hotels Sime Klaric.

"The decarbonization project once again confirms to us that the National Association of Small and Family Hotels follows the most current changes and trends and encourages the adaptation of its members' operations. Small and family hotels continuously invest in quality, and with their year-round operations and offer, as well as the projects they implement, they are aligned with the strategic goals of the Government, which has taken all steps to profile Croatia as a sustainable destination. Due to all our activities, our tourism reform, which includes the adoption of a strategic and legislative framework and record financing of private and public projects with grants through NPOO for the digital and green transformation of tourism, we are already recognized worldwide as leaders in the development of sustainable tourism. However, as nice as it is to see how the world recognizes what we do, we took all these steps for the sake of our citizens, for the sake of the sector, for the development of Croatian tourism and the creation of conditions for us to be sustainable, competitive and resistant to all challenges in the future. I congratulate all the winners of these certificates, who additionally contribute to the recognition and credibility of Croatia as a sustainable and green destination", said Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac.

"Production profiling is a necessity for Croatian tourism and significantly affects tourism results in the pre- and post-season. It is extremely important to communicate the products that are most important in the destination and closely related to the motives of the guests' arrival. In Croatia, the main reason for visiting is still the sun and the sea, but also nature, city break, eno-gastro offer, touring, culture, events and sports tourism. Our promotional campaigns are created in accordance with the production ones and are especially aimed at the period before and after the season", she said at the round table about production profiling Slavija Jačan Obratov, director of the Sector for the Tourist Board System and Product Development in the Croatian Tourist Board.

Deputy Prefect of Karlovac County, Ph.D. Vesna Hajsan Dolinar pointed out that Karlovac, the city on four rivers, Rastoke, Plitvice, the Nikola Tesla experience, the Aquatika center..., along with many other attractions, contributed to great tourism results in Karlovac County.

"In 2023, our county saw 18 percent more arrivals and 13 percent more overnight stays. I can proudly point out that Karlovac County is the second continental county in terms of overnight stays", said the deputy prefect.

The mayor of Karlovac, Damir Mandić, pointed out that the city of Karlovac supports a number of projects related to the private sector and tourism.

"All that you do in the National Association of Family and Small Hotels confirms that there are great ideas and projects in the private sector, the awarding of a carbon footprint certificate is a confirmation that you are doing well and a motivation for many others to continue in that direction", said the mayor of Karlovac to the owners of family and small hotels.
