Valamar joined the global "Science Based Targets" initiatives, which gathers more than four thousand companies that have committed themselves reduce greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the goals of the Paris Agreement and the latest scientific knowledge about the climate. The initiative supports the global economy in achieving two goals – halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

"Science Based Targets" initiative, whose members are the world's leading institutions for sustainability, including WWF and the UN Global Compact, will provide support to Valamar, which has committed to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and continuously invest in renewable energy sources, decarbonization, waste management and other sustainable practices in the supply chain.

"In the past period, we reduced the emission of greenhouse gases by 65%, reduced the amount of waste per night, and installed photovoltaic power plants in hotels and resorts that produce 6% of our electricity needs. By 2025, we plan a complete transition to energy from renewable sources and other investments in the sustainable development of tourism that contribute to the quality of products and services, employee satisfaction, the development of local suppliers and the quality of life in destinations", she stated Ivana Budin Arhanić, member of the Valamar Management Board.

As part of sustainable business, Valamar continuously works to create added value for its employees, guests and society as a whole. Since 2015, Valamar has invested approx 80 million euros in sustainable practices, and key investments related to socially responsible projects, destination development, renewable energy sources, employees and public tourist infrastructure. In addition, Valamar takes care of 80.000 trees and carries out a series of the Adriatic Sea conservation program and biodiversity. Through the "Easy as one, two, tree" campaign, Valamar planted more than three thousand trees, and this year, with the help of guests, they will plant an additional eight thousand.
