Gastronomic promotion of Croatian regions: Tastes of Kvarner on Croatia Airlines planes

The Kvarner Tourist Board, the Croatian Tourist Board and Croatia Airlines are implementing a joint promotional project from August 01 to November 30, 2023.The flavors of Kvarner".

During this period, specially designed meals based on culinary diversity will be served on Croatia Airlines planes Kvarner area in which they are intertwined coastal, mountainous i island cuisine.

Croatia Airlines will offer its passengers in domestic and international traffic, in business class big snack box with tuna spread, crackers with herbs, green and black olives, mustaconi and fig tree.

On flights of less than one hour, they will offer small snack boxes which includes tuna spread, crackers with herbs and figs, while passengers in economy class will be offered crackers with Kvarner herbs. 

Director of Commercial Affairs of Croatia Airlines Famous Frog he pointed out that the joint project Tastes of Kvarner continues the gastronomic promotion of Croatian regions on the flights of the Croatian national airline.

"This project is based on a broader project of the Croatian Tourist Board called Croatia full of flavors, and at the same time it is the crown of the cooperation between Croatia Airlines and the Kvarner Tourist Board, as part of which we jointly established a regular international route Rijeka - Munich in November 2022, on which our planes fly and during this season. In the next four months, passengers on all our international and domestic flights will have the opportunity to experience the gastronomy of Kvarner, the diversity of which is based on the meeting of the Mediterranean and continental climates, and we are glad that the synergy of all participants in this project contributes to the promotion of this Croatian region, which additionally we are developing the Croatian tourism product", states Žabo.

"This project of gastronomic promotion of our county on Croatia Airlines is an integral part not only of our long-term cooperation with the Croatian national carrier, but also the very beginning of the promotion of Kvarner as a European region of gastronomy in 2026. I believe that travelers will enjoy the specific foods of Kvarner on their trip, but also that this little "gastro excursion" will be an incentive for them to visit and explore us. Such projects and ways of highlighting gastronomy represent a step forward and further work on the development of gastronomy, especially now that we are in the process of winning the title of the European Region of Gastronomy, which implies not only promotion but also the protection and promotion of local food and culture, sustainable development, increasing quality, increasing visibility , then encouraging cross-sector linking of tourism, agriculture, gastronomy, culture, education, health and other sectors", said the director of the Tourist Board of Kvarner Irena Peršić Živadinov.

"Today, Kvarner is a successful tourist region, which, among other things, stands out for its superb wine and gastronomic offer, and this is confirmed by the recently obtained title of Kvarner as a European region of gastronomy. I am sure that this joint cooperation with the national airline, whose many foreign and domestic passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy the flight with the specific smells and tastes of our region, will significantly contribute to the additional recognition of the Kvarner and the overall Croatian gastronomy. Until now, the flavors of Slavonian delicacies and Dalmatian brunches have been presented in this way, and now the creative gastronomic offer of Kvarner will be presented in the best way, which will make the flight more pleasant, more beautiful and more interesting for passengers.", He said Kristjan Staničić, director of HTZ, adding that the goal of this project is to promote the gastronomic offer of all Croatian regions.

Prefect of PGŽ Zlatko Komadina praised the project, said that the richness and diversity of the green-blue county is recognized in its tangible and intangible cultural heritage, as well as its rich gastronomic and oenological offer, and added:

"We are particularly distinguished by gastronomy, in our case, it is a combination of Mediterranean and continental cuisine, which has grown into a recognizable brand of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and the recent edition of a prestigious guide dedicated to the gastronomic scene of our county, as well as the title of Kvarner, which will become the European Region of Gastronomy in 2026. year, confirms that. I believe that the guests who come to us are satisfied with the service and the rich gastronomic offer of our region, and that they enjoy the delicacies of the hard-working hands and creative ideas of our chefs.. "

In addition to a special gastronomic experience for passengers on flights to 24 international and 8 domestic destinations of Croatia Airlines, this project simultaneously represents a unique opportunity to promote Kvarner as a destination for gastronomy and full of diversity of experiences.

The project "Tastes of Kvarner" in Croatia Airlines aircraft includes a wider marketing cooperation of the 3 project holders; TZ Kvarner, HTZ and Croatia Airlines, which will promote "Tastes of Kvarner" through their marketing channels.

Tako the visibility of Kvarner will be highlighted through Croatia Airlines' internal channels such as the travel magazine, video screens in airplanes, the Croatia Airlines newsletter, advertising on social networks and internal media, posters in branches, as well as on a special web subpage of Croatia Airlines' gastronomic offer. 

Let us remind you that this is already the third such project of Croatia Airlines. They were first presented "Tastes of Slavonia" in cooperation with the TZ of Osijek-Baranja County, so "Dalmatian maredna" in cooperation with the TZ of Split-Dalmatia County and the TZG of Split, now the Kvarner region also got its place on Croatia Airlines flights.
