The 11th financing round of Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group (FMTG) has been closed. In a little less than 8 weeks, EUR 14,8 million of capital was collected through FMTG Invest's own digital investment platform, which has now firmly established itself as an alternative source of corporate financing for the Austrian tourism group.

FMTG's investor interest also provides important insight into developments and general trends: for example, project development in the hospitality and travel industries continues to grow, in contrast to the general real estate trend. The demand for a "second home with Falkensteiner" continues to grow. Among FMTG's innovative projects, premium camping is particularly popular among investors.

"What started as a bold attempt six years ago has developed into a serious alternative investment opportunity in the hospitality industry, with which we have managed to generate a total of 65 million euros to date for our future projects", He said Otmar Michaeler, CEO of FMTG.

Since 2017, more than 6591 investments have been placed, of which 3267 were made in the last 18 months alone. The average investment today is over 11.000 euros. The just completed 11th round of financing attracted an above-average number of new investors – 47% of the financing came from new participants.

"Of the 3,4 million euros paid out in September 2023, 64% of investors immediately reinvested the same amount or more. The great interest in our business model and in the projects we implement with capital shows that FMTG enjoys a high level of trust among investors", he says Anne Aubrunner, director of FMTG Invest.

The combination of cash back payouts and hotel vouchers is particularly popular with multiple investors. In the current campaign, the ratio was 50:50.

Funds from FMTG-Invest campaigns flow exclusively into top projects: a 5-star family hotel in Montafon, Falkensteiner Park Resort Lake Garda in Salò or the development of a 5-star premium hotel project with a focus on "family deluxe" in Licata, Sicily. The funds raised will also be used to support the market launch of Falkensteiner's new camping brand in Austria.

The trend is apartments with service and premium camping

According to Falkenseiner, the combination of 5-star hotels and serviced apartments is increasingly popular among guests and investors. Premium Living Apartments by Falkensteiner are also gaining importance.

In addition to serviced apartments, camping has experienced a renaissance in recent years. FMTG is particularly focused on premium camping. The tourist group believes so much in the success of this type of vacation in the midst of untouched nature that it founded its own camping division in 2023 and will soon launch a new brand by Falkensteiner. In particular, entry into the Austrian market and expansion in Croatia will be supported with funds from crowd campaigns.
