The first phase of the HTZ competition for the umbrella communication concept and visual identity has ended

Great interest is confirmed by applications from as many as 27 bidders!

The first phase has been successfully completed Competition for the selection of an umbrella communication concept - Big Idea and the new visual identity of Croatia as a tourist destination, which is Croatian tourist agency published in February this year and which will be carried out in two stages of the procedure. During the first pre-selection phase, which lasted until March 13, as many as 27 applications from bidders were received, of which 14 were international.

"We are extremely pleased with the bidders' interest in this tender, as part of which Croatian tourism will, among other things, get a new slogan and visual identity, as well as a completely new umbrella communication concept. In this first phase of the tender, we were not looking for conceptual solutions, but we wanted to gather bidders' interest, i.e. their documentation proving their abilities, experience, as well as professional recognition. Now there is a phase in which the members of the expert committee will process the applications received based on the submitted documentation and select those bidders who will go to the second phase of the competition.", he said Kristjan Staničić, director of HTZ, adding that offers with conceptual solutions as part of the second phase will be received by the end of May 2023.

Members of the expert Selection Committees consists of prof. Ph.D. Fedja Vukić (Design Studio, Faculty of Architecture, Zagreb), prof. Ph.D. Josip Mikulić (Department of Tourism, Faculty of Economics, Zagreb and Scientific Advisor at the Institute of Tourism, Zagreb), Mirko Ilic (Graphic designer, illustrator), Tomislav Popović (President of the Management Board of Maistra), Eulogio Bordas (Tourism Industry Advisors, founder and partner), prof. Ph.D. Bozo Skoko (Department of Strategic Communication, Faculty of Political Sciences, Zagreb), Petra Mlačak Rosić (Advisor in the Cabinet of the Minister, Ministry of Tourism and Sports), Mirko Herceg (Advisor to the Minister, Ministry of Tourism and Sports), Ph.D. Renata Deželjin (Director of the Brand Sector, Croatian Tourist Board) i Ivana Hrestak (Brand Department, Croatian Tourist Board).

The members of the expert committee will select up to the maximum number of candidates to advance to the second stage of the competition five bidders for project task A, i.e. for creating an umbrella communication concept (Big Idea) and up to ten bidders for project assignment B, which includes creating a visual identity.

Let us remind you that one of the key goals of the new Strategic marketing and operational plan of Croatian tourism is also the creation of a more prestigious tourist brand of Croatia on traditional and new markets, and in order to effectively realize this vision and set goals, rebranding is necessary, which will bring a new umbrella communication concept and a new visual identity of Croatian tourism.
