Virtual reality and info kiosk - an excellent way to promote the history and heritage of the town of Hvar

The presentation of Hvar's history and heritage is raised to a higher level. This is the conclusion after the presentation of the projects "Ancient Hvar in virtual reality" and "Info kiosk of the cultural heritage of the city of Hvar", which are the result of cooperation between the City of Hvar and Split-Dalmatia County.

The projects were co-financed within the program "Presentation of maritime heritage through new technologies". The total value of the activities on the project is 70.250 euros, and the amount of co-financing by SDŽ is 39.816,84 euros.

The company Art Rebel 3 from Ljubljana was responsible for the supply and installation of an interactive kiosk with an interactive map of Hvar, the production of a film - 9D visualization of the historical Hvar for production on VR glasses, and the supply, installation and programming of VR equipment, and for cooperation and expert monitoring of the implementation of projects hvarska the company Kantharos doo

The importance of additional promotion of archaeological, especially underwater heritage, the head of the Administrative Department for Maritime Affairs and Tourism of the Split-Dalmatia County Matea Dorčić pointed out as one of the main goals of the projects within the program "Presentation of maritime heritage through new technologies" of the Administrative Department for Maritime Affairs and Tourism SDŽ.

The good cooperation with the City of Hvar was highlighted, as well as the fact that, after last year's successful project "Caves of the Island of Hvar" and in addition to these two presented, the County co-finances three more projects of the City of Hvar within the framework of public calls for maritime assets, which will result in better protection of maritime assets and by promoting maritime heritage.

The first Hvar VR project uses modern technology to revive the hitherto hidden history of ancient Hvar, which literally lies underfoot and can only be seen through virtual reality. In addition to a unique and educational journey through time, "Ancient Hvar in virtual reality" also presents recent archaeological discoveries and findings about the lively port of ancient civilizations.

On the other hand, the multimedia "Info kiosk of the cultural heritage of the city of Hvar" offers a comprehensive overview of all the most important historical points of the city of Hvar, cultural monuments, archaeological and underwater sites and natural heritage, which will be available at the info kiosk in just a few clicks.
