Zagorje records record tourist results: Zagreb and Slovenia are the main markets

According to the latest tourism indicators, the Krapina - Zagorje County once again records record tourism results.

In August 2024, a record 63.578 overnight stays were achieved, which is an increase of 8,9% compared to the best August so far (August 2023, 57.897 overnight stays). Looking at the figures from the beginning of the year, by the end of August 2024, there were 142.672 arrivals (9% more compared to the first eight months of last year) and 306.288 overnight stays with the same increase of 9%).

"Krapina - Zagorje County is one of the leaders of continental tourism in the Republic of Croatia and is the strongest northwestern region in terms of tourism results. All of this gives us a strong motivation to, together with all stakeholders in the tourism sector in the Krapina - Zagorje County, continue to work towards achieving our long-term goals, which we have set very high for a reason and justifiably., said prefect Željko Kolar.

According to the latest tourist indicators, the structure of guests in terms of arrivals is 46% domestic and 54% foreign guests, while for overnight stays 45% are domestic guests and 55% foreign guests.

The highest number of overnight stays came from the broadcast market of Slovenia (48.792), followed by the markets of Poland (25.173), Germany (19.616), the Netherlands (9.070) and the Czech Republic (8.526). The most numerous domestic guests are from the city of Zagreb, Split-Dalmatia, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Osijek-Baranja and Istria counties.

The greatest trend of growth in the number of arrivals and overnight stays is recorded by household facilities, i.e. vacation homes, apartments, facilities at OPG (increase in the number of overnight stays by 30%), and campsites (increase in the number of overnight stays by 18%).
