Croatia's excellent tourism results this year are also confirmed by trends from individual markets, among which is the Austrian market, from which it came in the current part of the year, 1.426.514 arrivals and 7.769.322 overnight stays were achieved. Compared to the same period in 2019, the above represents a growth of 5% in arrivals and overnight stays, and a special success is represented by the realized overnight stays, which in the current part of 2022 have been realized more than in the whole of 2019, when Austrians realized 7.762.916 overnight stays!

"The achieved results in overnight stays confirm that Croatia has almost completely recovered as a tourist destination on the Austrian market, i.e. that it achieved a better result than was the case in the record and pre-pandemic 2019. We expect the continuation of positive trends during the next year, in which our country to have a particularly pronounced visibility and promotion. Namely, next year, Croatia is a partner country at one of the largest and most important tourist fairs. It is Ferien-Messe, a tourist fair for business and the general public, which will be held in Vienna from 16 until March 19", he said Branimir Tončinić, director of the HTZ Representative Office in Austria, adding that Austria, along with Germany and Slovenia, is among the top three foreign markets for Croatian tourism.

According to data from the eVisitor system, Austrians spent the most overnight stays in Istria (3,6 million overnight stays), Kvarner (1,8 million overnight stays) and Zadar County (819 thousand overnight stays) in the most popular destinations so far this year. Rovinj, Poreč, Medulin, Umag, Mali Lošinj, Opatija, Zadar and others.

Looking at the type of accommodation, Austrians spent the most nights in hotels, campsites and homestay facilities, while they spent almost 430 nights in nautical charters, which compared to the same period in 2019 represents a growth of 5%.
