Croatian Consulate in Munich organized a ceremony on the occasion of the celebration of Statehood Day, which brought together numerous politicians, cultural and economic workers of Bavaria, and representatives of the tourism sector.

At the invitation of the Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in Munich Vladimir Duvnjak, the co-organizer of this ceremony was City of Poreč-Parenzo together with Poreč Tourist Board, and a presentation of the city of Poreč, the tourist offer of the city and the presentation of many Istrian delicacies was held. Poreč was also presented as a sister city of the German city of Poing, with which it signed an Agreement on Cooperation and Establishment of Friendly Relations in 2013, while the parishes of Poreč and Poing became twinned a year later.

In front of almost 400 guests, the Mayor of Poreč, Loris Peršurić, emphasized that Poreč is today one of the most exemplary cities in Croatia, constantly raising its bar. "With about twenty thousand inhabitants, Poreč belongs to medium-sized cities on a Croatian scale, but its importance for Croatia is far greater. Poreč and three other smaller municipalities, on about 70 kilometers of the coast, realize 10% of the entire Croatian tourism every year. And in order to be able to do that, it was necessary to build an adequate infrastructure and enable the regular functioning of all systems, both for residents and for all guests. Today I can proudly say that we have achieved all this. From transport infrastructure, to drainage and purifiers, and agricultural irrigation and public transport - Poreč is making major strides in creating a city tailored to each resident and guest, while sustainable and thinking about its future for generations to come., He said Persuric.

Consul General Vladimir Duvnjak said that every year the Consulate invites guests to celebrate Croatia on the occasion of the Statehood Day and to present Croatia and its economic and tourist offer. "This year, our guest is Poreč, which caused great interest among Bavarians because they traditionally love Istria. Today, after the pandemic, while air transport has not yet returned to the old framework, Croatia will once again host a large number of German tourists, among whom the Bavarians are leading. ", He said Chimney.

A presentation of the Poreč Tourist Board was held at the ceremony, and guests were given promotional materials and Istrian specialties such as wine, olive oil, truffles, cod and prosciutto, which was in charge of professional cooking teacher Stanislav Poropat.

"Almost a million overnight stays are realized by German guests in Poreč, and this is an opportunity to, in addition to presenting the destination, say a big thank you because they remained the most loyal guests during the pandemic. The announcements are very good, we are also recording an increase compared to the record year 2019, and we expect a very good tourist season ”, said the director of the Tourist Board of the City of Poreč Nenad Velenik.

"Long-lasting and deep friendship binds our countries and it is our duty to unite new generations in order to have a strong Europe", she said Michaela Kaniber, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Forestry in the Bavarian Government, which is itself of Croatian origin.
