Held session of the Tourist Council of HTZ: More than HRK 1,2 million for planting trees

The HTZ Tourist Council approved marketing cooperation with the Croatian Ski Association, as well as the procurement of tree seedlings worth HRK 1,2 million as part of the "Croatia naturally yours" project.

Today, the 20th session of the Tourist Council of the Croatian Tourist Board was held, where the council members, among other things, approved marketing cooperation with Croatian Ski Association at the competition Snow Queen 2023.

It is a race of the FIS World Ski Cup, the strongest world competition in alpine skiing, which has been organized in Sljemen since 2005 and which represents one of the biggest international sports events in Croatia.

"The ski race on Sljemen is an excellent example of promoting tourism through sports. This is confirmed by the analysis data of Nielsen Sports, one of the leading global companies specializing in sports analytics, according to which the viewership of the live broadcast from Sljemen last year exceeded 31 million viewers. This means that this race enters in the circle of major sports events that take place in our country and achieve the highest viewership considering that the live broadcast goes to more than 20 countries of the world", said the director Stanicic, adding that, for example, last year's women's race in Sljemen achieved the highest TV viewership of all live broadcasts of men's and women's races in the FIS World Cup.

"This sports event additionally completes the rich offer of the city of Zagreb and will certainly contribute to the achievement of successful tourist results that we expect by the end of the holiday period", concluded Staničić. 

In addition to skiers, their teams and numerous spectators, more than 500 representatives of the media and about 100 photographers from more than 20 countries of the world who follow the race live have a positive effect on tourism.

Let's also add that the members of the Tourist Council approved additional marketing cooperation with the Croatian Ski Association in connection with the promotional activities that will be carried out with the Croatian Alpine Skiing Team, i.e. individual team members.

More than HRK 1,2 million for planting trees

In addition to the above, the members of the Tourist Board also adopted Decision on the distribution of funds to local tourist boards for the procurement of tree seedlings in 2022 and 2023 within the project "Croatia is naturally yours" ("Croatia is naturally yours").

It's about something more than HRK 1,2 million which will be distributed to a total of 116 tourist boards in accordance with their applications for the procurement of seedlings intended for tourist destinations in order to reduce the carbon footprint. In this way, Croatia will contribute to the fulfillment of the goals of the Glasgow Declaration on forests and land use, as well as to the further sustainable development of tourism.

"We are at the end of the year 2022, in which the tourism sector achieved excellent results based on quality preparation and continuous excellent cooperation of all stakeholders in the system. Croatia will enter the euro zone and the Schengen area on January 1, 2023, and the continuation of the integration of development , marketing and promotional activities based on the Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy until 2030. Today we adopted important documents for the organization of the work of the Croatian Tourist Board in the coming year, with which we continue to strengthen Croatia's position on the world tourist map. I thank all members of the Tourist Council and the Assembly for their contribution and I congratulate you on this year's excellent results", said the minister Grinjak

Let's also add that the members of the Tourist Council accepted the request of the TZ of the city of Nin for approval of membership in the international organization Phoenician route which represents a network of nautical routes used by ancient Mediterranean civilizations as main trade and cultural lines. In 1994, the Phoenician route was nominated for inclusion in the framework of the Council of Europe's cultural routes program, to which it was accepted in 2003. 

Also, in the rest of the day, it will be held 4th session of the HTZ Assembly at which the members will adopt amendments Annual work program and financial plan of HTZ for 2022, as well as the proposal Annual work program and financial plan of HTZ for 2023, which were previously adopted by the members of the Tourist Council at their previous session.
