The Government of the Republic of Croatia and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) are co-organizers of the 2nd World Sports Tourism Congress, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports is the main coordinator of activities related to the Congress.
The congress called 'Tourism & Sports United for Sustainability', which will be held on April 26 and 27, 2023 in Zadar, represents a unique opportunity for the exchange of new ideas and best practices of experts in the field of sports tourism from all over the world, as well as for branding of the Republic of Croatia as a top sports tourism destination.
"We are extremely pleased that Croatia and the beautiful city of Zadar will host such an important event, where we expect more than 300 international experts from the field of tourism and sports. With the Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy until 2030, we have highlighted the importance and potential of sports and active tourism that can to give an impetus to the overall economic and social development of local communities. I believe that this congress will be an excellent opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, ideas and best practices and the basis for the further development of sports tourism in Croatia, as well as strengthening the international recognition of Croatia as a sports destination.", said the Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac.
"The congress will gather more than 300 participants, among whom will be numerous high-ranking representatives of different countries, international stakeholders from the fields of tourism and sports, and numerous well-known active and former athletes. It will be an excellent opportunity for additional promotion of Zadar, but also of Croatia as a whole as a destination that is most recognizable precisely for tourism and sports. I am sure that together we will do a quality job and thus further strengthen the status of our country as one of the most successful destinations in the Mediterranean.", he said Kristjan Staničić, director of HTZ.
