Double-digit increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays in November 2024 compared to November 2023.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in the penultimate month of 2024, there were 444 arrivals and 989 tourist overnight stays in commercial accommodation facilities, which is 20,5% more arrivals and 20,1% more overnight stays than in November 2023.

Domestic tourists achieved 203 thousand arrivals and 390 thousand overnight stays, which is 30,7% more arrivals and 30,8% more overnight stays than in November 2023.

Foreign tourists achieved 241 thousand arrivals and 599 thousand overnight stays, which is 13% more arrivals and 14,1% more overnight stays than in November 2023. 

Slovenes had the most overnight stays

As in November of the previous year, the most overnight stays by foreigners in November 2024 were made by tourists from neighboring Slovenia, with 91 thousand overnight stays, which is 15,3% of the total overnight stays of foreign tourists. In comparison to November 2023, Slovenians achieved 23,9% more overnight stays.

The following are overnight stays by tourists from Austria (11,5%), Germany (11,1%), Italy (6,6%), Bosnia and Herzegovina (6,1%), the USA (5,2%), Serbia ( 3,9%) and the United Kingdom (3,6%). All guests from the mentioned countries achieved an increase in overnight stays in November 2024 compared to the same month a year earlier.

Hotels accounted for 61,3% of total overnight stays by tourists

In November 2024, the highest number of overnight stays by tourists was realized in hotels, namely 606 thousand, which is 61,3% of the total overnight stays. In this type of accommodation, 17,1% more nights were spent compared to November 2023.

They are followed by overnight stays of tourists in rooms, apartments, studio apartments and holiday homes, with 270 thousand overnight stays, which is 27,3% of the total overnight stays of tourists. In these types of accommodation, 22,7% more nights were spent compared to November 2023.

The most overnight stays in the City of Zagreb

In the City of Zagreb, 187 thousand were realized, which is 18,9% of the total realized overnight stays in Croatia. Compared to November 2023, 11% more overnight stays by tourists were realized in the City of Zagreb.

It is followed by the County of Istria with 167 thousand overnight stays and the County of Primorje-Gorski Kotar with 163 thousand overnight stays. Both Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties achieved an increase in tourist overnight stays in November 2024 compared to the same period the year before.

Most rooms and permanent beds available in the Hotels and similar accommodation group

In November 2024, tourists had at their disposal 98 rooms, apartments and camping sites with 237 permanent beds.

The largest number of rooms and apartments were available in the Hotels and similar accommodation group, namely 43 thousand (which is 43,6% of the total number of available rooms and apartments) with 86 thousand permanent beds (which is 36,2% of the total number of available permanent beds).

Average (net) room occupancy in November 2024 was 34,3%, and permanent beds 28,7%.

Tourists in the age group from 35 to 44 achieved the most overnight stays in November 2024, namely 191 thousand (which is 19,3% of the total overnight stays).

They are followed by overnight stays by tourists in the age group of 45 to 54 years, with 183 overnight stays (which is 18,5% of the total overnight stays).

In the first eleven months, there was an increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays

In the first eleven months of 2024, there were 19,8 million arrivals and 92,8 million tourist overnight stays in commercial accommodation facilities, which is a 3,8% increase in arrivals and a 1,4% increase in tourist overnight stays compared to the same period in 2023.

In the first eleven months of 2024, domestic tourists achieved 2,7 million arrivals and 8,4 million overnight stays, which is 8,8% more arrivals and 7,6% more overnight stays compared to the same period in 2023.

In the first eleven months of 2024, foreign tourists achieved 17,1 million arrivals and 84,4 million overnight stays, which is 3,1% more arrivals and 0,8% more overnight stays compared to the same period in 2023.

The most overnight stays by foreign tourists were made by tourists from Germany, 21 million overnight stays (which is 24,9% of the total overnight stays by foreign tourists).

They are followed by overnight stays by tourists from Slovenia (9,3%), Austria (8,8%), Poland (8%), the Czech Republic (5,5%), the United Kingdom (4,4%), Italy and Hungary (each 4,3 .3,6%), Slovakia (3,5%) and the Netherlands (XNUMX%).
