The Croatian Chamber of Commerce and the Croatian Tourist Board present for the first time the Croatian economic and tourist offer at the most important Chinese international import fair China International Import Expo (CIIE), which will be held in Shanghai from 5 to 10 November 2019.
"With the appearance at the ITB China fair, in which we participated in May this year and won the award for Croatian tourism, this is our second big presentation on the extremely important Chinese market in 2019. So far this year, there have been 24 percent more arrivals and overnight stays from this market compared to the same period last year, which puts China in second place among the top distant markets with the largest tourist traffic in Croatia. According to the Chinese National Tourism Administration, Chinese travel abroad is expected to be at the level of 2020 million in 200, and accordingly we expect an increase in demand for Europe and Croatia by many Chinese travel enthusiasts.", Said the director of the CNTB Kristjan Staničić, emphasizing that this year 483 Chinese travel agents have successfully completed online training on Croatian cultural, natural, gastronomic and adventure tourism offer.
At this year's CIIE fair, which is attended by over 150.000 Chinese and foreign buyers with exhibitors from more than 100 countries and regions of the world, today as part of the Croatian national pavilion was held "Croatia day", a meeting of Croatian companies with numerous Chinese partners. The Croatian Ambassador to the People's Republic of China Dario Mihelin and the State Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism Frano Matušić attended the celebration of the Croatian day at the fair.
"The Chinese market is no longer reserved only for the bravest, the doors of the Chinese market are open to the whole world, and this is an opportunity we must not miss. And this fair is proof that the Chinese are turning to imports and reducing the trade surplus and it is important that we are continuously present here. Our exports to China only grew by 25 percent last year, which is proof that we can compete in such a large market. On the wings of these good indicators, but also good political relations, it is time for even more concrete results", Said Luka Burilović, President of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, which yesterday organized the Croatian-Chinese Economic Forum in the joint premises of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and CNTB, which will now be available to Croatian companies interested in trying on the Chinese market. "Last year's CIIE fair exceeded expectations, the contracted jobs reached the value of 50,8 billion dollars, so we hope that our companies will fight for their share of the cake", Added Burilović.
According to the CNTB, the director of the CNTB, Staničić, used the presentation at the fair for meetings with the most important Chinese partners, such as the Shendi Group and Ctrip, with which they discussed future joint cooperation. Ctrip is the largest Chinese online travel agency, or the second largest travel agency in the world, which is the largest advertiser of hotels and accommodation in China, whose services are used by more than 300 million people in over 220 countries. Shendi Group is best known for building and managing the Shanghai Disney Resort in Shanghai and operates as a company to design projects and entertainment events. Representatives of the Chinese group, at the initiative of the CNTB Representation in China, visited Zagreb, Rijeka and Opatija in September.
President of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce Luka Burilović visited Croatian companies that exhibited at the fair: Degenija, Intereuropa, Megajoule, AMP Net.
"China is one of the most attractive markets that represents great future potential for Podravka. We are present here for now, but we have a lot of room for improvement. Podravka has always supported economic diplomacy initiatives of this kind. Presence at the CIIE fair is an opportunity to maintain and deepen existing business contacts in this large market. In the last two years, Podravka has changed the business model of processing the Chinese market, and we have recently been present again in Shanghai through cooperation with a distribution partner, and we are also working on projects to develop cooperation in the future.", Said Vedran Kelek, Podravka's director for new markets.
By the way, this year's edition of the CIIE fair is the second in a row, and its establishment and last year's first edition represents a significant move by the Chinese government in liberalization and market opening, which is second in the world in terms of imports and leading in terms of consumption. The largest Chinese import fair is held at the location of the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, on an area of almost 300 thousand square meters. Given that China is the most populous country in the world and stands alongside the United States as a world economic giant, the Chinese government is making extraordinary efforts to make CIIE an unavoidable gathering in the calendar of events at the international level. The special value of the CIIE fair lies in numerous business meetings, meetings at high political and diplomatic levels, presentation of economic and tourist potentials of different countries, as well as mutual exchange of experience and knowledge.
