Booking.com announced today that it is opening applications for its Booking Booster program for 2020 with the aim of supporting the development of solutions in the field of sustainable travel. Following the success of the previous three years, the fourth edition of the 2020 program will focus exclusively on the topic of sustainable housing. Booking Booster for 2020 will directly bring together startup companies, social entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations and accommodations of all kinds to explore more sustainable solutions. Under the 2020 program, participants with innovative products and services, including the facilities themselves, will have the opportunity to receive financial support from the company’s € 2,6 million fund.

The focus on accommodation in the Booking Booster program for 2020 is based on a survey by Booking.com, which showed that 82 percent of Booking.com accommodation partners want to work together on sustainability and that 87 percent of travelers from all over the world think it is important to take consider sustainable facilities when traveling. The Booking Booster program for 2020 is designed to support accommodation partners in their efforts to overcome obstacles and make their facilities and business more sustainable.

The program will consist of two linked ten-day cycles that will focus exclusively on sustainable housing. One of the cycles will be held in May, for organizations with innovative products and services, and the other will be held in September for the facilities themselves, including those just at the beginning of their journey to sustainability. In the finals of the Booking Booster program, participants from both cycles will give presentations on stage in September to secure financial support from the 2,6m-euro fund.

Both cycles of the Booking Booster program for 2020 will consist of a series of interactive workshops and meetings with mentors. Participants will be divided into pairs and will be assigned mentors from Booking.com to guide and support them. Regardless of the potential funding received, mentors will continue to support participants after the end of the program and connect them with a host of other Booking.com experts to help them.

Along with other public initiatives such as Travalyst, program Booking Booster stands side by side with Booking.com's internal volunteer program in which employees have long collaborated with local organizations on projects that contribute to the improvement of destinations around the world.

Startup companies, social entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations and sustainable accommodations from around the world, including previous Booking Booster participants, are invited to apply for the appropriate Booking Booster cycle for 2020, starting today (January 28, 2020).
