The 70th anniversary of organized tourism in Novalja was marked

For 70 years, Novalja has been organized tourism. It was the reason for the celebration of the great anniversary, which was magnified by numerous high guests. The celebration began with the exhibition "We and our guests", which through numerous photos, texts and interesting exhibits shown all that marked tourism in Novalja in the past seven decades.

But the central part of the program was held yesterday. The Conference on Sustainable Tourism, Green and Digital Transition #turism 2030 - "The Future is Now" brought together numerous panelists and guests. the conference was organized by the City of Novalja and the Tourist Board of the City of Novalja, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds, Lika-Senj County and the Croatian Tourist Board.

"Novalja is an example of the success of Croatian tourism", among other things, a Member of the European Parliament said, Sunčana Glavak, while the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Nikolina Brnjac She emphasized that it is no wonder that Novalja with her nature and offer, records an increasing number of arrivals and overnight stays every year.

"I am pleased that we have launched a reform of the tourism sector, and you have decided to mark this event by turning to sustainable tourism, because you realize that such tourism is managed and that it stands on all three sustainability pillars - the satisfaction of the local community, the development of the local economy and ecology.", Minister Brnjac said.

Mayor of Novalja, Ivan Dabo he recalled how he was engaged in tourism for the first twenty years of his career and recalled the beginnings of tourism in Novalja, in 1953.

"If it was a dream then, and today we are living it. It was not an easy road, from thorns to stars, but if you live it and work with dedication, you can also reap the fruits of that work and achieve results to the satisfaction of individuals as well as the community.", Dabo said.

The mayor is as stated by Novi list, emphasized that the basic preconditions for the further development of tourism are the preservation of space and nature, infrastructure and investments, where he presented a long series of investments that are currently being carried out in the area of ​​the City of Novalja, from the construction of new port capacities, roads, communal infrastructure, to investments in construction, extension or remodeling of public buildings, along with investments of the economy in tourism capacities.

Ernest Petry, the prefect of Lika-Senj, pointed out the very good cooperation between the county and the City of Novalja, as well as the cooperation with the state authorities.

"Work is underway in Novalja on numerous projects planned over a long period of time. Mainly thanks to the efforts and work of the mayor, and thanks to this, Novalja will increasingly orient itself towards sustainable, perspective tourism and green transition, which is the main goal of tourism as in in our county, as well as in Croatia", Petry said.

As part of the #turism 2030 conference - "The Future is Now", a panel of discussions were held, and to deserving individuals, companies and institutions in Novalj tourism, special awards "Cvet Arburože" were given, and the celebration of the Jubilee continued on the Basilica Square, with the music performance of Petra Dragojevic.
