Last week, the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Prague organized a ceremony on the occasion of the celebration of Statehood Day, ten years of Croatia's membership in the EU and the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, where representatives of Czech state and religious institutions, the diplomatic corps, representatives of cultural, economic and public life gathered. including representatives of the tourist sector, Croats in the Czech Republic and Moravian Croats.
On invitation Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Prague, H.E. Ljiljane Pancirov i military envoy, Brigadier Zdravko Barbarić, co-organizer of the ceremony was City of Poreč-Parenzo together with Poreč Tourist Board, and a presentation of the city of Poreč, the tourist offer of the city as well as the presentation of numerous Istrian delicacies was held. Poreč is also presented as a sister city district of Prague 6, with which it signed an Agreement on cooperation and establishment of friendly relations in 2012.
In front of almost 300 participants, the mayor of Poreč Loris Peršurić he emphasized that today Poreč is one of the exemplary cities in the Croatian framework that is constantly raising the bar.
"Poreč, as one of the top tourist destinations in Croatia, is proud to host this event today, presenting its rich history, gastronomy and culture. Our city has a long and proud tradition of hospitality and tourism, and we advocate that every visitor to Poreč experiences an unforgettable experience. As we celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Croatia's independence, we should be proud of our achievements as a nation and look forward to an even brighter future. Poreč has played a significant role in this success as we are an area that accounts for 10 percent of all Croatian tourism, and we will continue to work tirelessly to promote the beauty and diversity of our region, and to attract as many visitors as possible from all over the world, said Peršurić, reminding that Poreč and the district of Prague 6 have been celebrating more than 10 years of friendship. two strong countries, and especially how important is the role of the Croatian diaspora in creating permanent links between our communities", concluded the mayor of Poreč.
Ambassador Ljiljana Pancirov she said that this year is a special opportunity to present Croatia as the youngest member of the EU, which marks 10 years of membership, this year also entering the Schengen area, but also 30 years of diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and Croatia. She also emphasized that Croatia and the Czech Republic support national minorities, and are very proud of Czechs in Croatia and Croats in the Czech Republic, and thanked the individuals and companies that do business and strengthen ties between these two countries.
She said that the selection for the presentation of Poreč fell for several reasons: the tourist season is approaching, and the fact is that the Czechs have been one of the most loyal tourists in Croatia for years, but also in Poreč. In addition, Poreč is a wonderful city on the UNESCO cultural heritage list, concluded the ambassador.
