The global market for adventure or adventure tourism will generate $ 2028 billion by 1.169,09, the analysis says Allied Market Research (AMR).
According to a report published by Allied Market Research, the global adventure tourism market generated $ 112,22 billion in 2020, and is estimated to grow at an annual rate (CAGR) of 20,1% from 2021 to 2028 and to by 2028 generate $ 1.169,09 billion.
The pursuit of unique experiences and the emergence of mobile applications, big data analytics and artificial intelligence with the development of the tourism industry are driving the growth of the global adventure tourism market, according to AMR. In their analysis, they list risks and opportunities. Thus, unpredictable weather conditions, rising terrorism and crime rates, political uncertainty and natural disasters hamper market growth. In contrast, the growth of social media use and large investments in infrastructure improvements represent new opportunities in the coming years.
Due to quarantine measures implemented by the governments of many countries, domestic and international travel has been banned, local and international flights have been canceled, and road transport and trains have been stopped. This has reduced tourist activities. But according to the analysis, travel companies have started providing discounts and attractive offers to encourage people to indulge in adventurous sports activities during the closing. Also, adventure tourism activities are expected to continue to gain momentum after various travel restrictions are lifted, as they have gained more and more fans.
Based on activities, the onshore activities segment accounted for the largest market share in 2020, contributing to approximately half of the total market share, and is projected to continue its leading status throughout the forecast period. However, the air activity segment is estimated to be based on the highest annual growth of 21% from 2021 to 2028.
By passenger type, the couples segment contributed the largest market share, accounting for nearly two-fifths of the global adventure tourism market in 2020, and is expected to maintain its dominance in terms of revenue over the forecast period. Moreover, this segment is projected to show the highest CAGR of 20,9% from 2021 to 2028.
By region, Europe had the largest share of revenue in 2020, or more than a third of the total, and is estimated to continue its leading position until 2028. On the other hand, the fastest growth is expected in the Asia-Pacific region.
How adventure tourism can become the backbone of our tourist offer you can find out in the Homo Turisticus podcast where I thought aloud with Ivo Bencun, the first person for adventure tourism in Croatia.
Bencun is the owner of the tourist agency for adventure tourism Feral Tour, the president is the president of the Association of Adventure Tourism HGK and the organizer of the Zadar Outdoor Festival, which is a great example of how to extend the tourist season.
Adventure tourism is no longer a trend, but an imperative for any serious tourist destination. Mountains, plains, sea, rivers, nature, authentic offer… we have it all. We just have to pack it nicely and offer it to the market.
