The Voice of Entrepreneurs Association reports that entrepreneurs, craftsmen and employees have high expectations for the season and are unnecessarily intimidated by statements, such as the one made yesterday by Dr. Alemka Markotić.

The Voice of Entrepreneurs warns that the statements of members of the National Civil Protection Headquarters that have been appearing in public over the past few weeks are extremely dangerous for the continuation of the season that would enable entrepreneurs and craftsmen to recover. “Yesterday's statement by Dr. Markotić especially upset our members who have already borne the greatest burden of the corona crisis, without any help, compensation and without credit lines. As we have pointed out many times, entrepreneurs cannot continue to operate in such conditions and under such pressures", State from UGP.

Namely, Alemka Markotić, director of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases' Dr. Fran Mihaljević ', was a guest in the central Dnevnik HTV and confirmed that we can expect a fourth wave of coronavirus in the fall. “You saw last year that it took about two months for the alpha strain to spread. We had to finish the season around August 15, this strain could do it faster", Stated Markotić, among other things.

Many entrepreneurs and craftsmen expect significant income from the season, in order to be able to recover from an extremely difficult year, which almost ruined their business and endangered their livelihood. Tourists are increasingly encouraged to travel, which is a "lifeline" for many companies and tourism workers who have not worked for too long. We believe that we should not emphasize that Croatia depends on revenues from tourism and that most of the GDP depends on the tourism sector.

Statements intimidating tourists, entrepreneurs and tourism workers do not contribute to recovery from the crisis, nor save the economy, emphasize the UGP and believe that the National Civil Protection Headquarters should finally stop working against entrepreneurs and their employees and allow them to work normally. “We believe that Dr. Markotić's statements raise the question of whether he intentionally wants to destroy the upcoming tourist season, entrepreneurs, craftsmen and employees."

They also demand from the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the National Civil Protection Headquarters a clear plan for opening the economy and easing measures. After more than a year, entrepreneurs and employees deserve to know what their future holds, he said Hrvoje Bujas, President of the Voice of Entrepreneurs Association and added:

"It's really amazing at what point and from what position to go with such apocalyptic statements. One gets the impression that there is a targeted attempt to destroy the season, which is important for many entrepreneurs, but also for the state. Therefore, we demand that such nebulous statements be stopped immediately. " concludes Bujas.
