Digitization of the tourist offer: Vinkovci presented two new applications

The tourist board of the city of Vinkovci today presented two new applications - one for augmented reality, and the other is an audio guide.

The augmented reality application is called "Discovering Vinkovci" and with it, visitors can find out the hidden secrets of the city's history. They discover them by taking a walk and answering questions from the quiz contained in the mobile phone application.

Each correct answer brings one segment of the Orion dish, when visitors answer all questions correctly or complete the dish, they receive a prize that they can pick up at the Tourist Board of the town of Vinkovci. The application was created in cooperation with the TZ of the city of Vinkovci and the City Museum of Vinkovci, created by Equinox XR.

Two new applications for tourism and improving the tourism offer of the town of Vinkovac, emphasized the deputy mayor of the town of Vinkovac, Josip Romic during the presentation of the applications as part of the press conference, and added:

"It is an application that reveals Vinkovci in a different way, where all visitors to our town can learn about certain secrets of the oldest settlement in Europe, and that very easily through a single game. The second application is an audio application that tells us about prominent citizens of the city of Vinkovci, such as Dragutin Žanić, Ivan Kozarac, Alojzija Ulman and many others. There are 18 of them listed in the application, and for those who want to learn more, they can choose a prominent person of our city via a QR code, find out everything important that they have done for our city and our entire history, and even get to the location itself. In this way, all visitors to our city can learn something new about our city. But not only visitors, but also our fellow citizens," stated Romić and at the end thanked the City Museum of Vinkovci and the Tourist Board of Vinkovci for their proactivity, as well as the company Equinox and the Vinkovci company Fortuno for their innovation and a very high-quality project and product that will be available to everyone. 

Another application is audio application about prominent people from Vinkovci such as Dragutin Žanić Karla or Ivan Kozarac, Alojzije Ulman and others. A total of 18 of them.

By scanning the QR code, the visitor can choose which Vinkovci they want to learn more about (or about all of them), and if they want, they can also visit a location associated with the author. This application was realized in cooperation with the Vinkovac company Informatika Fortuno doo

It is about two applications that we want to bring closer to fellow citizens and visitors, the history of Vinkovci was stated by the director of the TZ of the city of Vinkovci Martina Matković and added that they often hear people regret that they cannot see something from the history of time in space, which is objectively not possible, so in cooperation with the City Museum of Vinkovci, with which everything begins and ends in this application, they have created an interesting, convincing story.

"Without their help, we would not be able to realize a lot of things in the city related to historical and cultural tourism, so I would like to thank them. There are many points that we defined with them and where they came to meet us with materials that made it easier for the company Equinox from Zagreb to make that part digital for us through an interesting and instructive story while walking through the city. As for the second application, it is about augmented reality. An equally interesting application, but for now unfortunately only available in Croatian, but since January that is, next year we plan to translate it into English, and after that we will see it in some other languages ​​as well. It is about 18 important people from Vinkovci. We know that a few years ago the City Museum of Vinkovci issued a publication that listed 100 important people from Vinkovci only for a certain period of the history of our city. In 8.000 years, there must have been more than 100 significant people from Vinkovci, and we chose 18 of them to begin with. allow expanding the content, so I believe we will expand it considerably in the future."

Hrvoje Vulić, the director of the City Museum of Vinkovci pointed out two locations within the application that are worth seeing and cannot be seen in the non-virtual world as particularly interesting:To begin with, it is the finding of Vinkovac silver, which is presented together with the place where it was found, and the location where everything begins in the application: the building of the former PIK, actually the location below it where in Roman times there was a huge granary, or two buildings and the market between them, which are now reconstructed virtually. Our heritage is exceptional, and little by little we present it digitally in this way, and in a way that will be particularly attractive to young people.", concluded Vulić.

To download both applications, a promo flyer was created that was distributed to all accommodation facilities as well as cafes and restaurants in Vinkovci, and the applications can also be downloaded from the website TZ Vinkovci.
