Michael Rousseau, chairman and CEO of Air Canada, has been named the new chairman of the Star Alliance Executive Committee, succeeding Scott Kirby, CEO of United, who has held the position since December 2020.
"I look forward to working with the board over the next two years as we continue to make progress in delivering a seamless customer experience. Star Alliance is committed to the vision of a connected world and I invite every member of our alliance to join me in realizing that vision in 2025 and beyond.", he said Rousseau assuming the role of president of the board.
In his new role as Chairman of the Chief Executive Committee of the world's largest aviation alliance, Rousseau will chair the board's two annual meetings and act as its spokesperson, guiding the strategic direction of the alliance of 25 global members.
"I am delighted to welcome Michael Rousseau, one of the most experienced CEOs on the board, as the new Chairman and look forward to working closely with him in realizing the renewed vision for the alliance. I also extend my sincere thanks to Scott Kirby for his leadership and support of Star Alliance during a successful four-year mandate", said the CEO of Star Alliance Theo Panagiotoulias.
Each of the 25 members of the alliance is represented by its executive director in the Main Executive Committee, which serves as the governing body of the alliance and determines its strategic direction.
