The bridge will extend to the new port terminal in Omišlja, the construction of which is also in the beginning. The project also includes a viaduct and a tunnel, thus providing an integral solution to the traffic infrastructure.
The planned completion is by 2030, and the estimate is that the design services will amount to 600 thousand euros.
It is planned to build a bridge about a kilometer southeast of the existing one, it would bridge the canal Small door and ended up on the peninsula Lantern. The deadline for creating documentation is three years, so it is predicted that construction could begin in a few years.
The bridge will not only be a road bridge, but also railway. It will extend to the new port terminal in Omišlj, which is also still under construction. They will have two levels, cars will travel on the upper one, and trains on the lower one.
The railway line will be in the new port of Omišalj, and will connect to the future one lowland railway Rijeka - Zagreb - Botovo.

The tender for the preparation of study and traffic documentation up to the location permit for the new Krk bridge, with connecting roads, was open until January 29, 2024.
