This year, Lošinj will also welcome tourists without waste

430 divers, volunteers and citizens participated in the two-day eco-action "The sea knows, the island remembers" and removed more than 40 cubic meters of waste

On the first weekend in April, a large two-day eco-action "The sea knows, the island remembers" was held at several locations on the island of Lošinj, in which a total of 430 divers, volunteers and citizens joint forces removed more than 40 cubic meters waste from the Lošinj sea and coast.

This year, about a hundred divers from numerous visiting and local diving clubs responded to the invitation of the SUBSEASON diving center. 88 of them, with the technical support of 105 volunteers on ships and on the shore, collected approximately 20 cubic meters of various waste in the seabed of the port of Malološinj, among which glass bottles and car tires were in the lead.

At the same time, about a hundred employees of Jadranka turizam doo collected an additional 8 cubic meters of waste on the coast from Velopin to Borik. The local committee of Veli Lošinj gathered about forty volunteers in the cleaning operation, who cleaned the promenade and the coast from Feral to Rovenska of plants and waste, while at the same time, 16 divers cleaned the port of Veli Lošinj with the support of a dozen volunteers on the coast.

In Nerezine, 25 participants joined the action and cleaned the Mirna beach and the port of Nerezine, while on the second day of the action, 85 divers and forty volunteers on the coast cleaned the seabed of Čikat bay.

With the aim of raising public awareness of the problem of waste on the seabed and the coast and beaches, as well as promoting sustainable solutions for the preservation of the marine environment, in the previous year 2022, about three hundred participants also collected more than 30 cubic meters of waste as part of this campaign.

As part of this year's two-day eco campaign, as well as the project to encourage the development of sustainable tourism of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Tourist Board "Croatia is naturally yours", students of the eco group of the Ambroz Haračić High School, children from the Cvrčak Kindergarten and children gathered by the Society our children Mali Lošinj planted twenty pine seedlings in the area of ​​the Kadin - Zagazinjina promenade in Mali Lošinj.

After active work and cleaning, the participants are provided with lunch and a free tour of the unique museum in the Mediterranean - the Museum of Apoksiomen.

The action "The sea knows, the island remembers" took place again this year in the organization of the Blue World Institute and the diving center SUBSEASON, with the support of the Town of Mali Lošinj, the Tourist Board of the Town of Mali Lošinj, Jadranka turizam doo, Municipal Services Cres - Lošinj, ŽLU Mali Lošinj and numerous associations, clubs and others.
