World Tourism Day is being held 27. September in many countries and destinations around the world, including in Croatia. This date was chosen to coincide with an important moment for the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the day when the Organization's Statute was adopted in 1970. Various events have been announced in Croatia with this year's theme is "Let's rethink tourism" where the focus is shifted to the future of tourism and to the kind of tourism we want.
This important date was marked in the Plitvice Lakes National Park at entrance 1, where free guided tours were provided for visitors to the Park while informants and presenters distributed leaflets and provided information about activities. In addition, visitors had the opportunity to taste local products such as homemade cheese, bacon, ushtipak and brandy, and the whole event was enlivened by the folklore performance of children from HKUD Korenica and socializing with the official mascot of the Plitvice Lakes National Park.
