Bartul Kašić High School Pag, Pag Tourist Board, Novalja Tourist Board, Povljana Tourist Board, Kolan Tourist Board, The Association of Craftsmen of Pag and the Association of Craftsmen of Novalja have published a public call for applications for a special standard "Pag on the menu".
All catering facilities that meet the requirements of the Ordinance on determining a special standard can apply for the Call "Pag on the menu" - traditional cuisine of the island of Pag.
Registration for this public call is voluntary, and it can be applied for catering facilities from the groups "restaurants" and "bars", family farms, small and family hotels that have a catering facility from the above groups, and wineries, olive oil tastings, cheese tasting rooms and honey tasting rooms located in the area of the island of Pag and having their own cultivation or plantations in the specified area.
The intention of the project is to establish a special standard for restaurants, family farms, small and family hotels, various tasting rooms on the island of Pag, which offer local and indigenous food and beverages, and especially to promote those for whom this standard is set. The standard is awarded after a public call.
The special standard "Pag on the menu" will be marked with a certificate and other marks. Winners of the special standard label will be presented on the websites and other promotional materials of the locally competent Tourist Board, in a special category and free of charge.
The aim of the project is to promote the traditional gastronomy of the island of Pag based on the event and a recipe book "Ca, cha, what used to be cooked on my island" Bartul Kašić High School Pag.
Since 2007, the Bartul Kašić School has been pulling out of oblivion the somewhat neglected old island dishes, and is working on preserving the intangible heritage of the island of Pag and branding the traditional cuisine of the island.
Seven catering establishments from the island area applied for the first public call two years ago, which met the conditions for the award of the certificate, and received the Special Standard of Traditional Cuisine of the Island of Pag - "Pag on the menu".
In the long run, this project intends to improve the presentation of the gastronomic quality of the island in the tourism sector and promote the island of Pag as an ideal gastro-tourist destination.
